WHAT IS COMPATIBLE?
Hey everyone,
I have an 87 Trans Am. Will the stock cross-member, lower control arm and disc assembly from any Trans Am between the years 82-92 be an equal swap bolt for bolt. Also would the same apply for rear ends. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
thaks, Joe

Re: WHAT IS COMPATIBLE?
I don't think he is talking transmission cross member, I assume he is talking the engine cross member that the a-arms attach to, judging by the parts he listed.

Re: WHAT IS COMPATIBLE?
From my observations (V-6 and V-8 Firebirds), the K-frame is identical. The differences come in springs, etc.
For the transmission cross-member, the difference is betwen automatic and manual - assuming there is a difference (my cars are all manual).

Re: WHAT IS COMPATIBLE?
I just put a cross member from a 92 Z28 350 on my v6 with a t5, and it fit perfectly...
Re: WHAT IS COMPATIBLE?
Usually parts will bolt up the same. Sometimes later parts might not bolt up to an earlier car which lacks provisions. To be a truly identical replacement you'll probably want to stick to cars of nearly the same age, with the same options. Any differences are probably going to be subtle, and most people might never notice a difference, but that doesn't mean they're exactly the same.
