Looks good man! Must be very exciting to finally begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel for this project. Props for pulling through as well, you were don't some serious work and I was beginning to get afraid that you might fold like a lot of other projects here on TGO. Again, congrats! Can't wait to see the finished product.

Love the story and the passion behind the car man. Way to hang in there through all the years. Your two tone paint is looking awesome and I love the custom hood. Nice touch. Can't wait to see it finished.

Re: '84 Firebird S/E Restore

It is getting exciting now that it is close to being finished and it is nice to see it not in primer gray. It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to do with the paint. I knew I definitely wanted two tone but kept going back and forth on the color. Then one day I drove by a car that was a gorgeous blue and pulled a u-turn, chased the car down to talk to the owner and find out what the name of the color is. It is a color called marathon blue from hyundai. It's metalic blue pearl and it pops in the sun. From that day the color choice was made. Thanks Guys for all the complements. I will post more pictures when I get them.

I had a buddy that had vette wheel with black centers. At first I loved them and they looked great but I'm not a black center kind of guy. I'm having a thin charcol gray pinstriping on the paint line to go with the rims and these rims are more my style.

Ah, ok. That'll look good. Mine has a silver stripe separating it. I know some people disagree, but I think the third gens have the perfect body lines to pull off a two tone paint job.

Re: '84 Firebird S/E Restore

The car came home from paint last weekend and I'm slowly getting the car back together. Got my new rims & tires in but I returned the rears because I didn't like the look of the staggered rear. They where both 18s but the rear rims looked smaller and I think they stuck out too much.

I LOVE those wheels! Car's coming along great man! I still can't believe the history behind it, and how it sat practically its entire life before you got it back.

Car looks fantastic with that paint job! And just throwing this out there....your rear appears to be very off centered which could explain the rims fitting oddly. Do you have an adjustable panhard bar, or is the car lowered? It may need a bit of adjustment to center the rear. That could throw off the way the wheels will mount by quite a bit!

The car is lowered and the rearend is centered. I guess it was just the wider lip on the back rims that I didn't like and made it look strange. Both tires fit in the fender wells but not by much. I returned the 9.5" rear rims and just sticking with 8". Here is a picture of where the wheels ended up. I just want them in the fenderwell a little more.

Re: '84 Firebird S/E Restore

Stumbled upon this build thread after seeing the hand made suicide hinges. Nice job on the build, good luck and I hope to run into you since you're not too far.

@ TopSpeed & WhiteDevil: The All Firebird Lawn Show was cancelled for this year (2013) due to underwhelming response. It is usually at the Saratoga Spring Auto Museum property in the state park they have. I've been to a couple shows there - they are well worth the 3+ hour drive for me.

I read that a month or so ago... I'm really bummed about it seeing that it is only a twenty minute ride for me. The build in almost complete. Just a few more odds and ends to complete. Hope fully in a week or two It will be done. I will post more pics then.

They actually moved the show to the Albany Saratoga Speedway for the past couple years. The speedway was sold and the new owner has no interest in the show from what I hear. I was excited to bring my car and show it off... but not this year.

THE BIRD IS DONE!!

I finished her up this weekend. Drove her for the first time... What a rush. Felt young again. I gotta thank my wife for getting this car back for me and dealing with me while I was rebuilding her. I also have to thank the people on this site for sending positive comments and keeping me going. You guys Rock!

Looks excellent! Came out awesome, and the two tone is killer. Now you just need an LS1 under the hood and it'll be complete!
