1992 B4C....
Well,
AS I venture back to the F-body world, I have been turned on to a deal for a 1992 B4C car. Never put into service, with low low miles (under 10K original)
As the story goes, this car was purchased by a local LEO for subsidized use, then never put into service and tucked away. It sat rarely used until it was sold to another LEO who wanted to hotrod it.
All the parts to do a T56 conversion have been aquired, (supposedly) Trans, crossmember, clutch/flywheel, etc. A set of 4th gen wheels with spacers have been added. The original wheels and tires will be included in the sale. some of the bushings have been replaced. Seems 20 years of sitting in Hawaii has taken its toll on the car.
At current I do not know the actual history, as I have not seen the car in person, but a friend has given the car a quick once over for me. Paint is very nice on the steel panels... the front and rear fascias are in need of a repaint. (I seem to recall this as an issue with 90-92 cars in this environment)
The big concern is I was told that the car does not have the grid lights, but conventional pre-91 RS lights. What are the chances that a '92 RS was equipped with the wrong lights?
Other than that, I was told this car still smells new and drives like a 20 year old new car.
Tomorrow should be interesting....

What color is it? Do you plan to put it back to stock, or finish the T56 conversion?

Re: 1992 B4C....
I'd like to leave the car stock... Might have a buyer here for the T56 and related parts.
I'm on the assumption I will never drive on the original tires, though I understand the car spent most of its early life on stands, covered in a garage. Now it sits outside but still covered.
Going out there this evening to take a look and play touchy-feely with it.
If all is good then it may come home tonight... though it has no plates on it.
I've been able to locate NOS tail light lenses at $400/set... (ouch) but will find out more tonight

The taillight issue has been explained.... being that strobe lights were installed in the lights, the officer did not want the original parts cut up for that. They installed a second set of lights already pre-drilled for the strobes. The original lights are in boxes and will come with the car.
Heading out there in an hour....

Re: 1992 B4C....
More info to come but....
The odometer reads under 10K original...
Original paint, interior still has faint remnants of "new" smell. covers over the front seats. perfect dash with the exception of the missing cover just below the headlight switch.
Engine.. clean... very clean. L98/TH700-R4
1LE brakes with aftermarket drilled rotors (Rotors need to be cut due to surface rust.). Aftermarket (SLP) 4th gen exhaust, no cats
Chrome 4th gen wheels with billet spacers, Original wheels included, however the OE gatorbacks had been replaced due to dry-rot and flat-spots. Dont like the ten spoke 4th gens, prefer a set of 5 spokes.
Car starts, runs perfect, AC still R12 and cold.
Came with lots of spare parts
Service Parts Identification Decal
I did note no aluminum driveshaft on the RPOs

Wow that's an awesome find, drain all fluids and change all filters an spark plugs and you should be good to go.
In your parts pile, I noticed there is another speedo cluster. Is that the 145mph or something else?? Was the cluster swapped?

Re: 1992 B4C....
The mileage is true and accurate. Carfax verifies the slow changes in mileage over the last 20 years.
It seems the car all the rest of the stuff is from was a plain RS with an LT1/T56 swap that met a sad death.
The car already had fresh synthetics in it, even had a fresh, full tank of gas in it.
It needs tires.... and to have the brake rotors cut of the surface rust... even the cautious 32 mile drive home didnt take it all off.

Re: 1992 B4C....
There's a pretty long line.. and the offers have been crazy (IMHO)
But... I wanted to buy one new in 92... but couldnt (for obvious reasons)
Now that I have one I'm going to enjoy it for a few years. (I kept my MCSS for almost 12 years before I finally let it go)

Re: 1992 B4C....
When I picked the car up and drove it home, the Goodyear F1s were flatspotted... I figured I'd just put the stock wheels back on it since they had newer tires... they were worse!
Took the stock wheels back off and called a buddy with tire connections... although the tires arent ZRs, it really doesnt matter as the car will never see those speeds. At least now I can drive it without my eyeballs trying to pop out of my head...

Re: 1992 B4C....
Added a couple of pics that werent in the gallery before and fixed some of the links from my FB album.
The car sits with 2 car covers and hardly ever moves except for cleaning the carport every other month. I put a few hundred miles on it driving it around the island and it does drive like a new car. (Albiet 20+ years later)
It now has 8255 miles...
