I dont know what its worth, but I do know its not worth getting rid of the Crossfire for it.

I dunno I guess the GU2 and the peanut cam really doesnt appeal to me. And the missing TPI badge on the back would have me suspicious of a repaint.

I think he is shooting too high with the car. It is at $5200 and the reserve is not met. It has a rod knock and 85000 miles. I don't think it is worth much more then what the bid is up to now.

Yeah, I think even $5,200 is strong for a car with 84K that needs an engine rebuild. I say he's dreaming, bet it won't meet reserve...

Here is another one for you. If you read the description, the paint can heal itself.

Pretty car, but I think I'd shoot for a low miler ESPECIALLY when talking convertibles. Structural integrity is bad enough in coupes!!

1) Where did I say anything about price? Do you see it? I don't.
2) $1,500 for an IROC convertible in fairly clean shape? Get real, dude...seriously....

Assuming there are no surprises, (which there always are), I think it's worth about it's current high bid, (~ $5-ish K) - even with a blown motor.

Jason E,

1) "Really" was in reference to your quote.

2) I was just being facetious about the value in general, as that was the main topic of this thread. It just seems that is the magic number when people ask "what's it worth" questions. I have a higher mileage convertible and it seems quite structurally sound. I wouldn't consider 85k miles to be high on a 23 year old car. Didn't mean to frazzle you and I apologize.

Re: '89 IROC convertible with "rod knock". What's it worth?
Guy should've taken $5k.

It's got 85k miles, and it's a repainted auto with a blown motor. How much was he expecting to get? It's a nice car, but $5k isn't a bad price to unload a car with a blown motor.

Alternatively, he could rebuild the motor for $1500 and sell the car for $8500. But since it sounds like he just doesn't want to deal with it, he really should've set the reserve around $5k. Can't have your cake and eat it too.
