Newbie Here- 1992 Camaro Z28

Hi all,

I am looking at a 1992 Z28 with the 5.7 liter/4spd auto trans. It is in great shape and has a 86,xxx original miles. I have always loved these cars but I have never owned one, now is my time. I own several chevelles and novas but need help finding the build sheet on this car. I have read that you may find it in the door or under the seat in these Camaros. Is that more of a 80's thing or does that still ring true for the 92's. Below you will find the Vin #, any help on finding the build shet and what to look for on the options would be much appreciated..thanks

You can find the RPO codes for third gens either under the center console lid or inside the rear storage compartment door. On my 92 Z28, its on the inside of the rear storage door. Then you can download and use the RPO decoder available on this website to figure out what all the codes mean..... A lot easier than the old cars where you had to hope to find a sheet tucked somewhere.

As an owner of a 69 camaro, I can say that going from a chevelle or nova to a third gen will be quite a change. I can consider my two Camaros to be very different cars....And you will find working on a third gen to be much more frustrating...at least when things go wrong.... But since I own 2 third gens, there must be something I really love about them....

Welcome to thirdgen.org, Once you own one, you are here a lot.....

Re: Newbie Here- 1992 Camaro Z28

Thanks for the heads up, I got a list of the RPO codes, downloaded the program and figured out all the options. The car is in wonderful shape for being as old as it is and it is a well optioned 92 5.7 Z28. I just put a deposit on it and will be paying the balance soon. It is a adult 1 owner car that has been stored in a climate controlled garage it's whole life. I look forward to getting it home and doing some real deep cleaning on it. It has been stored and not run a whole lot since her owner 2007 divorce.

Nice.....sounds like a good find... post pics when you can. My 92Z sat for 6 years before I bought it and that did lead to some fuel and tire issues. Hopefully that won't be an issue for you.
