87 TA WS6, LB9, 700R4, 2.73's I think LOL T-top car. The car has zero rust-I mean zero-never driven in the winter, just some scraches, a few dings and the spoiler is in bad shape. The car is loaded and it all works, no dash cracks, back seats are like new the rest is in good shape besides the headliner. All the seals are great, Tops are super nice and no leaks. I do not have the stock head unit, just a nice Pioneer CD head unit in the car. Here is the lift of new parts. ALT, Battery, Yokahama tires, AC Delco fuel pump, filter, PCV, ACDelco copper tip plugs, Taylor street thunder wires, MSD car and rotor, K&N drop in air filter, new Ok exhaust (24" glass pack in place of the cat with a spout that dumps about half way back) hood shocks, used replacement PCM and PROM, have and extra PCM. I have the TDS headlight repair kit, not installed yet. The car runs, drives and stops great. I have the window sticker and other documentation as well. The car right now has 49,703 miles.
Sorry I don't have better pix.

$8500 with some upside sounds about right to me. Low miles, great condition!

I sold my hardtop, base suspended '86 with 34k miles on it for $10,000 a few months back, with a brand new paint job, new spoiler, re-done OEM wheels, etc. Yours has the benefit of t-tops and WS6, with detractors being original paint and a red interior (no offense...red turns off many buyers).
Very nice car, by the sounds of it...I'd say 8-9k makes sense.
On a side note, I think the thing with me is I didn't answer your question
If it comes down to what would I buy it for (versus what its "worth")? I probably would not buy it. The biggest problem you face is the 190hp 5.0 under the hood. Its by far the most common engine for that car, and while it is a step up from an LG4 4bbl, it still isn't an LB9 5 speed or L98 car.
After owning one, I personally would not buy another one because I was uber-dissappointed with the engine performance. I knew what I was getting when I bought mine in 2010. Even though the mileage was low, it was somewhat of a project...so I picked it up cheap. I was fortunate to get my money (plus a little profit) back out of it.
Regardless, you have a nice car there

That’s a very nice car that you have. It’s getting more and more difficult to find thirdgens that are in good shape like that with relatively low miles.
I paid $4,000 for my car when I got it 11 years ago. I have done a lot of work the car since then. I didn't want to keep my car all original though. I did think that I over paid what my car was worth at the time but I was 17 and I was just glad to get my dream car. Since then I've rebuilt the engine, did some performance mods and got an upgraded after market trans and converter. My car had 153,000 miles on it when I got it so it was not a low mile original car. I've got it back in good shape now but it took a lot of work to get there.
I specifically set out for an L98 car when I was looking at cars. I had test drove a couple of stock L03 RS cars as well. They were nice cars but I didn’t like the lack of power. I know you can hop them up and improve them like any other engine but, I just wasn’t interested in that. I knew that I wanted a Z28 or and IROC. I had the chance to drive a white L98 Z28 at a dealership as well. After I drove that car, I was hooked and knew what kind of drive train I wanted. The L98’s and the LB9’s with the L98 style cam are very good performance cars.
You can always change the cam in the car that you have and get some of the performance back that you don’t have. I never did like the fact that GM paired many LB9’s with the smaller cam. Most of our cars came with automatics. Just because you have an automatic doesn’t mean you should get short changed when it comes to performance. Especially since most thirdgens came with some form of the 305 V8 under the hood and an automatic transmission. I guess it had to do with meeting the CAFE fuel economy standards. Ha oh well, guess it gives us something to work on and change about our cars.
