1987 Iroc hood

Hey everyone my 87 L-98 hood insulation pad is breaking down. Are the reproductions just like the originals? I see one on eBay for $49.99 plus shipping and Classic has one for $29.00 is there a difference I should know about? Thanks for any help.

The repop insulators I've seen are nowhere near the quality of the originals. Many parts vendors have stopped offering them because of poor fit and apperance.

Here are photos of an NOS GM original I have listed for sale here on thirdgen.org.

Compare and you decide.

My insulator is for a fiberglass hood, thus the heavy foil on one side. A ground strap touched the foil and bolted to the hood. The other end of the strap went to the firewall. This drained static electricity off the hood.

It is for a carburated motor and GM's instructions were to cut-out any needed openings for louvers, flappers, etc.

Can you post a few pics of your original? Thanks.
