89 formula ws6?
hey guys, i just bought a 89 formula yesterday, the guy claims it's a ws6 car, it has the ws6 whee it, and is highly optioned, where are they build sheets on these cars? how do i figure out if it's a ws6 or not?
Re: 89 formula ws6?
All Third Gen Formulas came standard with the WS6 package. Open the center console lid, and on the inside wall should be a SPID sticker. Look for the WS6 RPO code if you want to see yourself.
However, again, all Third Gen Formulas came standard with the WS6 package.

Take off the diff cover and look.
As a rule though, the 305/auto cars came with 2.7x, 305/5-spd 3.08, and 350/auto 2.7x; unless they had the G92 option, in which case the auto cars usually got 3.2x and the 305/5-spds got 3.4x. But that only gives the most likely thing they came with, on average, and is not reliable down tot he level of one specific car (that could have been ordered differently); and of course any part of any car could have been swapped by anybody for just about any thing over the last 20-some-odd years.
I'd avoid wasting mental exertion on "codes" and "build sheets" and such as that; they only tell, AT BEST, what the car CAME WITH, and not WHAT IT HAS NOW. If it REALLY MATTERS, you'll take off the cover and look.

Re: 89 formula ws6?
the Formula and GTA automatically triggered the performance gear when equipped with the L98 & LB9/M5... Very Very Very few GTA's and Formulas came with the 3.08 with the LB9/M5 or the 2.77 with the L98... There are a very very few that break this rule, but I suspect those were mostly exported...
Keep in mind that the G92 was not used on the SPID on firebirds, except when triggering the 1LE package (88-92)...
