need a little help

ok so in my quest to take my 1992 camaro rs back to its original factory condition i missed a very important piece of information. the codes in the console were apparently taken out by the last owners son so yea it aint there anymore or no where to be found. is there anywhere i can order a new one from what i have gathered about the car from old photos the owner had and some little digging ive done myself. it is a 1992 convertible camaro rs and if he was telling me right it had the heritage stripe option on it to begin with until he was rear ended and just had a painted artic white. plz help

I don't believe the SPID sticker is being reproduced and you can't order a copy. You can go to Compnine.com and supply your VIN. It should show you all the RPO codes that would have been on the SPID. Z03, the Heritage option, will show if the car was ordered with it.

Re: need a little help

On the later ThirdGen convertibles, the SPID was located on the inside wall of the center console instead of the rear locking storage that the non-covertibles had.

I have never see a badge in the cluster, but yeah there should be one on the dash. I have a 92 Camaro and my cluster is just like any other.

No they aren't! The SPID label is always in a readily accessible location for replacement part identification.

Re: need a little help

Once you have your RPO codes, are you planning to put a new label in your car? If you are, you can buy one by supplying the codes to one of the internet contacts out there or you can make an acceptable one yourself if you are a little clever with spreadsheets. Mine deteriorated with age and I made one that looks like the original from card stock paper and adhesive backed transparancy film. If you would like the template from mine, I'll be glad to send you a copy.

Re: need a little help

You know making one myself doesn't sound that bad. I'm in two computer classes at school and considering my dad has a 90 rs that needs a little work that might be a good option for me. Did you use something like excels spread sheet or something like that and yea a template would be good.

Re: need a little help

I'll be glad to send you my Excel spreadsheet. Just send me a PM with your email address and I'll shoot it to you.

All you will need to do is add your VIN, RPO codes, paint and color codes. I sized the template, and font sizes from my original. When completed, I put it between two pieces of clear, adhesive transparency film so that the one adhesive side could be stuck to the inside wall of my console just like the original. I would send a picture, but my car is not close by.

Let me know and I'll send the spreadsheet along to you.
