decode my Aussie Z28?

Hi all just joined this forum as I have just purchased what I believe to be a 83 z28 camaro. This is the first time I've owned something this new of american origin. I currently have 1934 chev roadster pick up, 1957 4 door 210, 1962 bel air 4 door, 1976 firebird, and now, as a first car, father daughter project, this rolling z28, that has already been converted to right hand drive
The vin behind the windscreen I can read and get some info off the net, but the body tag on the radiator support panel is a bit harder to read?
I will lay out the numbers and letters as they approx are spaced. Any info as to what I have actually purchased colour trim options etc, would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Steve

Re: decode my Aussie Z28?

Trim tag is: D=1983 model year, 12B=2nd week of December 1982 production week, 1FP87= Chevrolet Camaro, L111104=production sequence number Van Nuys, California, 60C=Custom cloth interior in sand grey, 82L 82U=Charcoal exterior paint color, W=water based paint(?), AR9=reclining front bucket seats, D=(?), S=(?), 066830=plant usage, rumor has it that the first two digits 06 might be the day the body started down the line, Dec 6, 1982. And welcome to the message boards!! You have found the right place to find information on third-gen Camaros/Firebirds.

Re: decode my Aussie Z28?

Thanks for the info David, looks like the car is original then, apart from the steering conversion, as it does have charcoal paint inside the door jams and the interior is grey cloth, seats are still good but the flocked plastic looks quite sad. As I get into this build I'm sure I'll be calling on members here for help, so thanks once again.
Cheers Steve

Re: decode my Aussie Z28?

I will post some pics after Easter as I'm after some commments as to what looks different from original. Bought it as a roller and there is stuff missing from under the bonnet, but the interior looks reasonable for it's age and seems to me to be complete. This by no means is going to be an original resto, but I am curious as to how this car would of looked when original.
Cheers Steve
