83 Recaro Trans Am - Is it worth it?
I was driving home from a business trip yesterday and found a 1983 Recaro Trans Am for sale only 30 minutes from my house. Except for a locking gas cap, it appears to be fully loaded, to include:
Power Windows
Power Locks
Rear Defrost
Hatch Release
Cruise Control
Rear Wiper
T-tops
Original Delco Stereo with Power Antenna
54,000 original miles. Crossfire FI. Runs perfectly.
All original except for a B&M shifter and the hood was repainted (and decals were not re-applied).
Everything works except the power antenna only goes up, not down.
The car has minor rust only along the passenger side door lip. The rest of the car is rust-free and the body is straight. Interior is clean. No rips in seats, only minor wear.
It is in dire need of a paint job.
Asking price is $5000.
I am strongly considering it since it is a Recaro. I love these cars and I've been looking for one that will hopefully appreciate in value in the long term.
What do you guys think? Is it worth it?

I'd be scared of the rust (maybe just we're used to rust-free cars in GA), and I'd never buy a Crossfire car, but that's just me.
Other than that, looks like a stupid good deal!

I'm not an expert on 'birds, but this seems reasonable to me. It's 99% original and a working CFI is a plus for me.
I'd definitely check around for rust hiding in the usual places. If that checks out, I'd say it is a pretty solid deal in my book.
