Seeking some low miles, all original, "Reference Cars".
History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!

Did the original exhaust have two catalytic convertors, looks like only one in the pic?
None of the Canadian 1LE or 1LE/R7U cars had N10 dual cats. Of the 35 US bound 1LE cars, there some had N10.

I'll help for 1982! Mine has 20,400 miles and all original other than the tires (I have the original Eagle GT tires)
and I installed a new stripe kit because some were starting to peel. It's been in a garage it's entire life and has never even been dirty

Here's the dash emblem out of my brothers wrecked car. Its the exact one thats in my car. Figured it'd show the colors better than taking a pic inside my car
Re: Seeking some low miles, all original, "Reference Cars".
Does your emblem say made in Canada on the back side? Here is a thirdgen.org link on the subject of emblems on 3rd gens from 1982-1992. There are some interesting questions that are brought up about the very early 1982 dash emblems not saying made in Canada on the back. There is also a 1982 or 83 brochure of the dash logo that seems to have purple coloring. Just trying to see if they were ever produced this way or faded to this color.

I would consider <30K to be low. Basically, if it's like a year or two old in miles then it is pretty new. normally a car doesn't show much ware for the first year or two.

Chazman, are you still looking for pictures and info on any original Trans Am's? I have my 84 black and gold survivor trans am that I can post some pictures of soon. The car has a little over 52,000 original miles and is a Norwood car (where I am located). The car is all original except tires and battery. I do have some questions about the car that maybe some of you guys can help me with. I'll upload some pictures as soon as I can, I also have some listed under my profile.

I just purchased on August 3, 2018 a 1985 Z28 with 25,784 miles from the original owner. All paperwork. Always garaged and covered. Last 12 years in a storage facility. Interior is perfect.
Taking it away after closing on the sale at the DMV. When I first saw it on July 14th. Just took the cover off and saw this. Parked it on a plastic sheet. After buffing. Its first car show at the Downers Grove Friday night cruise on August 10th. Interior is perfect.

My buddy in high school bought his burgundy IROC because his older cousin had that bought that exact car brand new.. If it weren’t for a car exactly like that he wouldn’t have bought his IROC and I may not have found my first IROC..
Always loved that color combo and haven’t seen one in ages!

I'd be happy to offer my 1985 IROC-Z L69 as an example as well. Mine currently has just over 32,xxx original miles. As far as I know, the only modifications done to it by the previous 2 owners includes Headers/exhaust, radio, and a toggle switch for the electric fan. It also has a remanufactured alternator. The rest, I believe, is stock/original.

I love that color combo, too! Your cars twin is for sale on Kansas city craigslist right now! It looks like the only differences are this one has crank windows, and has the console clock. 59k miles and they want $9,000 https://kansascity.craigslist.org/ct...731172064.html
Re: Seeking some low miles, all original, "Reference Cars".
It's been a while since I've been on here. I now work as the curator of the Ames Automotive Foundation's car collection. We have a 1985 LB9 Trans Am with 1,240 miles on it and a 1987 IROC Z with 2,000 miles on it. It would be difficult for me to get any pictures of the suspension/undercarriage since they are on display but if anyone wants any information about them I'd be happy to help with what I can.

Excellent! And congrats on the new gig...sounds sweet!
Everything is how I remember it, except I have a wiper not that rear hatch cover, and I can't remember whether that carpeting on the side compartments in the rear was ever on mine. The sail birds had fallen off before the first time I bought the car, but that comment on the video about them being an emblem rather than a decal is correct. I remember seeing marks where the emblems were glued on mine.
Re: Seeking some low miles, all original, "Reference Cars".
I posted a while back so sorry for the late photos. Here is my survivor 84 black and gold trans am Norwood built car. Photos taken on site at where the Norwood plant once was.
Re: Seeking some low miles, all original, "Reference Cars".
Extremely late to the thread but better late than never. I am acquiring a 91 formula, 350 tpi, t top car. Original owner who I'm getting it from says around 75k miles. It was ordered the way it appears. Here are a couple pictures of it before he parked it nearly 20 years ago. I have some work to do to get it back up and running but I think it will be worth it.
Re: Seeking some low miles, all original, "Reference Cars".
Hey Chaz,
I test drove a 91 5 speed 1LE, N10 before I bought mine and after driving the owner told me he'd removed the cats for even better rpm on the track. Amazing car to drive especially with the big brakes. That will be my next one to add just to have one I can drive hard, tough machine!
LMK you know of a red on red one for sale, been looking for a while now.

now, was the maf ductwork swapped on inplace of broken sd ductwork ? Wiring was all there and no map sensor.
my next thought was well, column swap, then i saw the air bag sensor mount and wiring in front core support.
Wanted more information and pictures but I've never been able to find the person or car again.
Only one I've ever seen or heard of like that. Maybe a rebuilt car or something but it was interesting.
