1991 GTA
I am looking at a 1991 GTA. I took a pic of the service parts id, is there anything here that would make it special or rare? The only codes I know sre 'JG1' and 'WS6'. Supposed to have a 305. Thank You . I will put up a couple pics, it is prety nice.

Re: 1991 GTA
91/92 Trans am and GTA tail lights are worth a small fortune, in the event that you parted it out. Other than that I think only the standard performance options (G92, 5 speed, WS6, and 305 TPI) would really make a price difference.

If it doesn't have Y84 then it is not a GTA.

Re: 1991 GTA
It seems like any third gen Trans Ams out there these days are claimed to be a GTA. Some people advertise them as GTA and they dont even have the badges on them. I noticed on this one the GTA emblems were like brand new. It is in real good shape, and at this point I dont care if it is a GTA (of course I would rather) I just want another third gen TA in decent shape. But not a fake, priced as a real rare 1991 GTA. Thanks for the help everyone.

Are those GTA tail lights or regular TA ? This pic is kinda blurry, but you can see where the nose emblem was placed on the trunk lid below the spoiler in the middle. It has been repainted so i figured the guy did not remember where he took it off, I guess it was never on the car!

Thats a couple of Vettes behind it in the front view. Also one in the pic from the back, they always have interesting vehicles in there. Mostly just regular cars, but they always have some muscle cars and even some exotic stuff. They would take payments on something like the TA, that is why I was looking at it.
Re: 1991 GTA
Looks like just a Trans Am someone put GTA badges on. Still could be nice if the price was right.
There is no difference between Trans Am and GTA tail lights, they are identical.

Before i bought my GTA back in 03 i verified all contents on the SPID to be correct from the B2L code to the Y84. Even verified if the car was the correct color that it came from the factory.
Even though this car isn't a true GTA, it's still a nice Trans Am and in 91 and 92 they became less in production before going to the 4th gen platform in 93.
Good luck if you plan on purchasing the car.
Re: 1991 GTA
They want $8900 for a car that appears to have 50k miles on it. The carpet has been shampooed and still shows signs of wear so I would think the car hasn't been taken care of by the original owner. I know that dealers usually sell cars for about $3k more than they buy them for so be sure to use that against them.
I saw a Mecum tag on the car so I looked up the January Mecum sales results from Kissimmee and there were two burgundy/grey 1991 Trans Ams that went through this year. One sold for $5k and the other didn't sell at the high bid of $5500. I'm assuming this was the $5k car. Neither listing had a VIN or mileage listed and both had TTops and automatic. Either way, this car is owned for around $5-$6k.

Re: 1991 GTA
You know what I would do is go to the dealer, let him talk up a game about the car. Play stupid. Let him explain, and prove, that it is a true GTA and not just a rebadge. Ask him "How do I know this isn't just a rebadge?". Don't say anything else.
Once he is done with his sermon, counter back with every reason why it is NOT a GTA, right down to the sail panel badges being in the wrong spot (they're to high), seats, no Y84 on the SPID, etc. If you can, show up in a third gen.
I have done this many times, and one of two things happen. Either he asks you to leave, or they back peddle real hard and you get one hell of a deal on the car.
If you are serious about the car, find the value of a TA vs GTA for that year. So you can make a reasonable offer.
