Firebird Book 3rd ed Marc Cranswick

I have been in contact with Author Marc Cranswick and apparently his publisher only wants to put the third edition of his book in digital form as an eBook. So no hard copy. Personally I am a fan of hard copies, nothing like having a physical piece of literature that I can read anywhere without worrying about an EMP or the batteries dyeing on my Kindle...

Books only help the values and help preserve the history of our cars, so I would like to ask that we contact sales@veloce.co.uk and ask them to publish the book in hard copy. Digital is only good for when you have electricity.

I think we should simply ask if they would release the book "Pontiac Firebird the auto-biography" by Marc Cranswick in hard copy.

I'm with you and I'll do this immediately!

I have a signed first edition he sent me for putting my 92 GTA and my 91 Firehawk in it and providing info for the book as well. I also have a second edition I got from Amazon.

He said that this (third) edition has several corrections, and I believe from talking to him a few years ago an annex for all of the various convertible conversions...

I actually got a reply from Veloce that they are not planning on releasing it in hard copy... All we can do is keep trying.

Corrections and more info is always a good thing that's for sure!

They will probably send me the same canned response too. Maybe after 25 or 30 emails from here over the next couple weeks they may reconsider.

Here is the response I received just now:

Hi Alex,

Yes- that’s right there is only currently a digital edition planned. I’ve passed your interest on to the Director though who assesses the demand for all our titles.

Best wishes,
Liz

This was the response I got:

Hi John,

Many thanks for your email.
I’m very sorry but there are currently no plans for a reprint of the book.
My only suggestion for a hard-copy is if you can find one second-hand somewhere?

Sorry about that but best wishes,
Liz

We need more people just emailing them, it seems to have changed a tune, and got something in motion... good deal

Unfortunately the reason for the decision is printing cost and anticipation of sales not high enough to justify the printing cost.

Yeah, I'm with all of you - I keep my car books forever, and love the color photos on glossy paper.

Re: Firebird Book 3rd ed Marc Cranswick

The print run for my Firehawk book was $25,000 for 1,000 copies NOT including staff input. Add over $10,000 for that. These things are time consuming! Digital will likely be more common going forward.

Marc Cranswick's book is one of the best of Firebirds IMHO
