DD8 1987 production numbers
DD8 1987 production numbers
I recently purchased a white1987 Trans Am GTA with the DD8 rear view mirror and I have was wondering how many were built with that option. I have heard there were 902 Camaros built with it in 1987 but I can't find any numbers for the Firebirds let alone GTAs. Does anyone know how many were built? It is a 5.7 car and has C&C T-tops, roof mounted console w/working flashlight, gray cloth seats and no rear window defroster. Seems like a odd combination to me and outside of buying a packet from PHS I don't know where to get production numbers for the individual options. If someone has them and would like to share I would appreciate it.
Re: DD8 1987 production numbers
GTASourcepage has some figures for 1987-1992 but the DD8 option in 1987 isn't one of those.
Even if you find the figures for the DD8 option in 1987, it won't outline the production figures for option combinations. In other words, you will not be able to find how many 1987 GTAs with the B2L 5.7, "C&C" T-Top (which isn't factory), DK6 roof console and DD8 rear view mirror were produced. That information is not public.
Are you sure you have "C&C" T-Tops? Those were aftermarket. Unless an exported vehicle, you could not order a 1987 GTA with the 5.7L and factory T-Tops (RPO code CC1). Do not confuse CC1 with "C&C" as they are different. CC1 is factory T-Tops and C&C was the company doing aftermarket T-Top conversions.

Re: DD8 1987 production numbers
Thanks, I understand about not getting the complete run down of RPO numbers, I am just trying to see how rare may be. The T-tops say C&C on the glass and definitely do not look factory.
Even if it does have some rare options it will never be original again as the engine block and oil pan are the only things left of the original engine, and the chassis has had a lot of mods as well. It does however look dead stock from the outside. I have only seen 2 GTA's with this mirror and would like to know how many had it.

Re: DD8 1987 production numbers
The 1987 Camaro number is also incorrect. The mirror was part of the top option package. I believe the 902 count is for individually sold mirrors and not part of the package. 1987 was the first year for option packages and GM didn't really know how to track the options as part of a package or individually.
