Engine Identification

Here's the number stamped in the side if my block.. Can anyone tell me how to decode or understand these numbers? Thanks.. 6499371371

That's not the right format for any of the factory numbers.

Get this number, from this place right here; top of the bell housing flange, behind the driver's side head.



Nothing else really matters.

there will probably be a wire bundle going right over it. but you should have enough slack to move it and see the numbers.

A partial VIN number should be stamped on the block. I think the position varies with the year.
