Trans am Instrument cluster changes
Could somebody post a pic of the difference in clusters from year to year. Is an 85 different from an 87?
Re: Trans am Instrument cluster changes
Fairly big difference. The 1985 Trans Am, if analog, has the mechanically driven speedo while the 1986+ Trans Ams have an electronic driven speedo. There's also a slight difference between the faceplate and design.

'85 cluster is quite different from '86-later:85 is made by AC delco, has reflected orange lighting, and a subtle "grid"pattern on the gauge faces-otherwise basicly the same as 84 and 82-83.'86-up clusters(besides some '86 base clusters still AC delco),are made by Nippondenso with lighted pointers and "through the dial"red-orange illumination.
