1983 Recaro Package?
First I apologize for asking help before I am any! LOL But I'm a little stumped.
I traded a 4x4 for a TA recently. However, with plans of making a modest build(close to stock) it's sitting in the shop right now awaiting an entire engine replacement due to misfortune with an easy-out and #3 cylinder before I got it. I highly doubt I am reading this cowl tag right, or that the decoders are accurate. I will have to take a closer look as there are seat covers over the seats and I figured they were shredded. I glanced at the bottom half but didn't think anything about it as I was checking other things(rust). The car is sitting with all four disc brakes.
It's probably not at all the 'top end' but I'm curious what the more experienced members of TGO have to say about it I'll enjoy the ol'girl no matter what. I will post images of the tag itself soon as I am with net that allows me to load them.

60C 75L 75U W
AQ9 CC1
D S 135979
Question, am I misreading as AO9? And could the CC actually be GG1? (Still cannot figure out what the last row stands for) Again, apologies crudding up the forum with another "Identify my Car" thread.

Thank you for any help.

AQ9 is the Lear Siegler seats. CC1 is factory T-Tops. There was no GG1 code for the ThirdGen.

Re: 1983 Recaro Package?
D - Model Year 1983
07B - July Second Week
2F - Pontiac, F-Body
S87 - S = Line (Firebird) 87 = Body Style - 2 Door Coupe
L - Van Nuys, CA Assembly Plant
233746 - I is this the same as your VIN sequence number?
60C - Light Sand Gray Interior
75L, 75U - Spectra Red Paint
W - Waterbase Paint
As noted by JT
AQ9 - Lear Sieglar Seats
CC1 - T-tops
Purely a Guess on the last row, I would need to see some others
D = 1983?
S = Firebird?
135979 = Could be the Body Sequence number in relation to Firebirds and Camaros as of the beginning of production in 1982 for the Van Nuys Plant...
I have a 1983 Camaro and Firebird, but I think they are both from Norwood, so it might be different.

Re: 1983 Recaro Package?
I would hazard that to be the guess! I really appreciate the help there. That last row did make me squint and most of the sites I was pulling up were always up to 1981 and that was it. LOL More of "This isn't an available code--but there are SO many other codes it might be?"
Says inexperience. This forum has been a huge help to sorting these things out and finding(sometimes) answers to questions that a shop manual won't. Thank you guys again!

In 1982 Van Nuys alone, There were 121,512 Camaros, and 76,445 Firebirds, in 1983 there was 68,810 Camaros and 37,548 Firebirds...
So back to the drawing board
The earlier cars thru 1978 apparently the last line was the Build Date, so that rules that out because that information is in the first line.

Re: 1983 Recaro Package?
For 1982 there were 116,364 firebirds and in 83 there where 74,884 firebirds. Of the 74,884 1983 firebirds, 31,930 where TA's.
The 135979 is the Job Sequence number not the body Sequence number so you can't use it for figuring out what order the car was build. The last 5 of the VIN is a better approximation.
Regarding the D and S. i have collected a lot of cowltags and build sheets for 82-84 firebirds and i believe the D means it has a rear spoiler and S means it has the Radio accommodation package (basically the fender with the hole for the antenna). Awhile back when i first proposed my findings i got a lot of negative comments about how wrong i was but no one could offer any alternative so take it for what its worth.
By the way here is what the other letters mean and this is only for Van Nays cars. Norwood does not have the letters. If it has the letter it has the option, no letter means it doesn't have the options.
D - Rear spoiler
B - Luggage compartment trim
W - Rear Wiper
N - Locking fuel door
S - Radio accommodation package
