Instrument panel question

I just got an 82 sport coupe, factory 305 car. The gauge cluster has no tach. Has speed/kilo's on left and gallons/liters on the right gauge. And three warning lights in the center. Does anyone know if this is year and model correct?

Re: Instrument panel question

I assume this is for a Camaro, what trim level is it? The lower trim levels on Camaro/Firebird often omitted the tach and other guages.

Re: Instrument panel question

Idiot lights and no tach are standard. Very few base Sport Coupes were optioned with U21 Special Instrumentation, which was standard on Berlinettas and Z28s.

U21 included a tach, volt meter, oil psi gauge, temp gauge, and trip odometer.

Re: Instrument panel question

At one time I owned a plain jane v6 firebird with the idiot lights and no gauges. I prefer all the gauges myself to keep an eye on things.

Re: Instrument panel question

Thanks I appreciate it.. Can you tell me if the cars dash wiring will accept this U21 package or would it have to have the corresponding dash harness?

Re: Instrument panel question

I owned an 85 305 car with the idiot light dash long ago. IF I remember right, all you have to do is swap the gauges (obviously) and the corresponding switches to the correct sensors. Should be fairly plug n play IIRC.
