87 Formula 350, rare car?

I know there has been alot of discussion what warrents something to be considered rare, so I figured I'd throw this out there. I have a 65 Malibu conv with some very rare options and have been around old cars, buying, selling and restoring them all my life. Personally, I feel that if a car has a low production run, especially when compared to other versions, then it warrents are rare title. Nevermind the fact that every day that goes by, more are potentially dropping off.

I was wondering if anyone knows the exact numbers on 87 Formula production. I have seen factory sales brochures that state that a limited run of 1500 87 Formula 350's were going to be built, but someon on this board got through to Pontaic and they stated they produced 2384. Does anyone have an exact figure? I called Pontiac and they said there comps only go back ten years and bickered with them quite a few times and dug up no info. Either way, I would personally consider a production run of between 1500-2384 rare, but would love to know the exact number.

Any help would be appreciated. Any other 87 Formula owners?

Pontiac Historical Services offers a kit you can order at their website. Search in any search engine, or maybe someone who has the kit can post those numbers for you. Keep in mind they may not be 100% accurate, but its a printed number.
