1989 IROC-Z, T5, L03, 3.08 posi. Base 15" wheels. Used to be a hardtop before someone sunroofed it. Says 22K miles, figure 122K??. Bad repaint, some rust on the hatch and driver's floor.

Re: Who Will Save This 1989 IROC-Z?
Too bad the video doesn't show more of the car. Just shows it runs & drives, to bad it doesn't get into the details. The more I see 5 speed cars, the more I want one..... Every 3rd gen I have ever owned was a automatic.

The fact that it's a 5 speed is what makes it cool.

At least the dealer is honest that the car is rusty. Sucks about that sunroof, I like the car being a stripped down 5 speed otherwise

I wouldn't call that extreme rust. Certainly not for a serious collector tho.

That rust ain't so bad, some parts of the country are just a bit more spoiled than others.. Tho I do prefer, the southern and western style rust..

Over $1600 and the reserve still isn't met. I wonder what the seller thinks a rusty, hacked base iroc is worth?

Re: Who Will Save This 1989 IROC-Z?
If it was a g92 or something special I would agree but an average mileage, rusty, needing a roof( sunroof is very bad IMO) base iroc I don't see it. It'll be interesting g to see, I'd say they want over 3k since they have a formula with ripped up seats and paint issues listed for 8 or 9k

That car has been on eBay for a year. I put an offer in today because I somehow feel sorry for it. Thank heaven they didn't accept it!
Re: Who Will Save This 1989 IROC-Z?
Someone just needs to man up and crush that POS. No heat shield between the exhaust and fuel tank, and compression fittings on the fuel lines? Forget that.

I offered $1750. I drove home from work worrying they'd accept it. I was relieved when they countered with $5,499.

Re: Who Will Save This 1989 IROC-Z?
Last year I drove 4 hours out into PA to look at a car that was somewhat misrepresented in it's on-line ad & I was sick as a dog! Dragged my trailer out there in the slush with cash in an envelope ready to buy it at the price he had posted. I was unhappy and a little angry when I saw it and certainly did not feel up to laying in the slush in his driveway strapping it onto my trailer so I low balled him....really low. He said no, I thanked him & left relieved until he called me 5 minutes later and said he would take it. I told him I was already on the highway heading home. Whew!
Re: Who Will Save This 1989 IROC-Z?
That car is only slightly better then the last Iroc I parted out. And $5K is a insane price. Hell I think 1K is to high. But if I recall they do a ton of consignment sales so the owner/seller must have a high price before the place tacks on their fee.
The one I parted had rot in the floors, firewall, rockers, A & B pillars, quarters, trunk. Enough that the car bent when I put blocks under it to remove the diff. Yup I did that removal with a torch without getting under the car.
