History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!
Hey guys, I have an 85 iroc with the l69 and I'm about to restore it. Im looking for pictures of original engine bays so I can try and determine where everything goes since my engine bay looks like a birds nest. Any pictures will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Attached are two '85 former eBay auctions. Not great pics, but a start. I have more '84 and '83 underhood reference photos than '85. '85 did have a different air cleaner lid and nut than '84 '83. I will post '84 photos in a thread titled "L69 AC Hose Zip Tie."
Is your car the California plate car listed above? I say yes because of the upper AC hose coming off the dryer, and the GM sticker on the radiator cover. Nice car.
Lol, just realized the California blue one is mine when he was trying to sell it. Haha didnt notice cause the engine bay was dirtier than I would have ever let it get. Knew there was a mark on the rear fascia of mine, so i zoomed in and saw the mark. Wow, a lot of dust for 6 miles. Im thinking his "climate controlled" storage facilty wasnt as climate controlled as should be. Oh well, supposed to be here tues or wed. A little detailing, and she'll be back to perfect.
I saved all the photos from that auction as a reference car. Wonderful car. A pinnacle in all the years of IROC Camaros. When one considers the progression of the Z28 from 1980 through 1985, the '85 L69 and LB9 LS was an amazing progression. After '85 there were improvements in drivetrain performance, but never any more gains in styling, and even losses depending on options/packages.

Check out how your blue '85 has an LG4 type AC hose connected to the dryer. You walked the line with that car, correct? Do you recall the situation?

Yea, left it for 30 minutes. Came back for start of 2nd shift and the guy who put on the ar cleaners decided to start back lining ( a term we used when the line was stopped, you put the part you were responsible for on cars as far back as you could. You then would have an extra 45 seconds per how every many cars you did, to sit or read etc) He of course didnt put his apron on and scratched my left front fender.##%£¥! So after getting to the end of the line.. It was built perfect, Except for the fender. So off the final line and out to the Blue Building (Final Audit) and was taped up, prepped and re spayed the fender. Ahhhh but this L69 shared so much with the LG4.
