Nose Emblem

Im starting to question what I thought I knew about our cars.

There wasn't a nose emblem on my car when I bought it, and there are no indentions or mounting holes on my bumper cover for one. I thought the car just looked weird without the nose emblem so I ordered one and sure enough they have mounting studs on them, but my cover has no holes, nor the "indention" that the emblem sits in. was it a "raised" emblem in 83? Meaning did the emblem stick to the bumper cover without studs?

Looking online Im seeing more and more 82-84 Z cars without them. Are these replacement bumper covers, or was this an actual option?

I long ago filed the studs off and placed the emblem on the front of the car in the correct location, but now Im not sure if it is supposed to have it???

Re: Nose Emblem

All 1982-1984 Z28s had the indented front bumper cover. You may have a replacement cover. The others you've seen are probably also replacement covers.

Re: Nose Emblem

You may be able to locate a good condition, used front bumper cover for your car then sell the one you have for the same price and get originality back in place, if that's your goal.

Re: Nose Emblem

I think Im going to have to. It looks strange without it. I went ahead and picked up an original hood off another 83 a few eeks ago....might as well have them painted at the same time

Re: Nose Emblem

My 82 had the emblem on the nose. I don't have it anymore. I put on a custom billet emblem in place.

Re: Nose Emblem

I've had a few cars where the indent was filled in when the car was re-painted. If you ever get the chance - just for 'kicks' - try to feel or look at the back of the bumper cover in that spot to see if you can feel the holes from the back-side !!
