When I saw Andy's car in person last year, I mentioned that the correct air cleaner cover nut was one of those knurled looking nuts and not a wing nut. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Thanks for the corrections guys, I too have never seen the yellow painted center section - Charlie it looks like your center washers (and maybe the outer) are yellow too.

Need to get painting before I install these!

Both L03 cars I have bought, both from original owners at around 30k, had the same wing nut style that is on Andy's car right now. They were both late production 92's as well, but most all of that style air cleaner I have seen have the wing nuts. I think he has the right thing on there.

So far virtually every late 91/92 L03 car I've seen and found pictures of had the wing nut. Even the spare take off air cleaner I have came with all the same matching hardware . . . question begs is when did it change?

My wife and I braved the excessive humidity last night and got Marco's face put back on! 3 months without his bumper was getting old.



Every component of the bumper assembly was taken apart and cleaned meticulously into every crevice. New GE Halogen (AC Delco replacement) headlamps in rebuilt buckets and a new NOS GM grille was installed.



(Dang is the garage ever a mess!)



We took our time carefully tweaking each mounting point to get the cover as flush and aligned as possible. Hopefully we can get the spoiler / ground effect on tonight.



Since the original filler panel was a little warped due to the fasteners being torqued down a bit too snug, bought a NOS GM filler piece . . add a little "Back to Black" and it looks perfect!

I cant tell you how impressed I am. First of all you have a wonderful wife to help you with a wonderful car.

I can appreciate the bumper on the table. Right now I am restoring my 89 jeep bumper and its been on the table for weeks.

Although I think the humidity was even higher tonight, we finished putting the front end of the car together. It is so great to see the front end fully assembled.



Thankfully the seams of all the parts lined back up pretty well and tight.



Nice to see the bright reflection in the fender.



It's been nearly 3 months since the front end came apart, forgot got how cool he looks! Now he's not the ugly duckling next to his 2014 stable mate.



Undercarriage came together really well.



Was able to buy a NOS GM front air dam, the original was a little scuffed up, sure wish I could find the front spoiler support / deflector, but the orginal will have to do.



Was dealt a small hiccup with the positive battery post bolt being stripped, thankfully my past parts hoarding I actually had a spare!



Decided to mock up a "faux" 1990s era Delco Freedom battery.

Your level of detail is amazing! Car is better than new with all the detail work.

I would be afraid to drive the car after that. Wouldn't take much driving to get a coating of dust on everything you've detailed to such a high degree.

Nice 4th gen... I saw it in person at G15 in 2010, which means you probably saw my 91 B4C. This is the show where Scott Settlemire brought the new ZL1.

Whelp . . . Saturday was my last available day to work on the car before getting it loaded up for the trip to Maryland for the Camaro Nationals.

I have some last minute touch ups to do such as final glass and paint wipe down, but I'm as ready as I can be . .

Did do some door jamb and lock strike clean up . . replaced the grungy green dot stickers in the jamb, behind the rear plate and on the rear view mirror.



Was able to re-secure the loose corner of the one jamb sticker, and we really hope to duplicate the "Customer Satisfaction" decal some day, but this will suffice.

I did not use glue . . . did that on my 2000 and it melted the white backing and made an AWFUL mess! . . . I used a little section of 3M / Scotch permanent double sided tape.

Good to know. The ASC label is peeling off of the door jam of my '89 convertible and was wondering what the best way to fix it was.

Camaro Nationals 2016, is now in the history records . . What a fantastic event, weather was great for the 2 day car show, albeit it a little cloudy on Friday.

The collection of cars in building 9 for the Legends and Bowtie Classes were amazing.

Thankfully the rain predicted for Thursday did not come to be, and we were able to get him out of the trailer and into the building safe and dry!



Arriving early meant we got into the building pretty quick and sadly tucked into a corner, but he still looked amazing amongst his fellow Camaros.



We were entered in the 1,000 point Bowtie Class, which is open to 1st, 2nd and 3rd generations only. Legends Class is a 5,000 point system open to 1st and 2nd generations only, once they have acquired at least 975 points in Bowtie Class.

Judges spend about 30 minutes going over the car looking for accurate parts, finishes, as well as checking for proper operation, such as starting, lights, etc.

To our amazement during awards we learned that Marco earned a perfect score of 1,000 points, plus a bonus of 5 more points for safety equipment ( fire extinguisher, first aide and tool kit )



Our personalized engraved plaque will be sent to us in the mail. I guess all the crazy detailing paid off, but never in a million years did I expect a perfect score. Feeling very honored and humbled.

Sadly the event has to come to an end and back into the trailer he goes for a safe journey home and prepare for the next event.

Absolutely beautiful car. Seeing what you've done to it and the time and effort put into it makes me ashamed of how I've treated my car. Even though I'd say it's a lot better than the typical 3rd gen you see on the road, it doesn't hold a feather compared to yours. Congrads on the perfect score and in the pictures of it as it was being loaded onto the trailer it appears someone has been laying rubber down out on the road.

I was able to see Andy's car a couple weeks ago at the Camaro Nationals, and I must say this car is immaculate. I never had a chance to speak with Andy but this cars color combination and attention to detail is amazing. Congrats on the scoring also, there were a lot of VERY nice cars in that building. Hopefully next year the 3rd gens can represent a little more.

Hey guys, thanks for the kind words, sorry I was not around the car when you stopped by, but I'm like a busy bee in a garden when I'm surrounded by so many awesome cars. I'd love to hang out by the car and chat with everyone, but I really do love seeing all the other cars.

Superfest 2016 is in the history books, and after a rather stressful, and extremely thorough scrutiny by the judges, we proudly brought home first place in the 25th Anniversary Class.



My wife and youngest step son were so excited at the awards ceremony!

Did have a rather interesting conversation with a gentleman with a 1991 Z28, stating that my hood has been repainted since, the large primer circle near the hood latch was missing, and swearing that the stainless steel gear clamp on the radiator overflow tube was wrong. I have no evidence to the contrary.

Well, for starters. He shouldn't swear. Secondly, my '88 T/A has a stainless worm clamp on the coolant reservoir hose at the radiator. It has a small keystone clamp on the bottle end.

Glad it had the worm-style on it somewhere, as it made R&R of the bottle to clean under it a LOT easier.

Was really happy to learn that AC Delco makes a Professional set of replacement front bushings in blue for the Third Gen Camaro . . . Part number 88912162 - 45G0013. Found them on eBay as a complete pair for less than $14.00 shipped.



I put the old dirty bushings off to the left. Even Made in USA!

When you went to your shows, were they actually checking bushings? Mine were like yours on the left, but I ended up replacing them with all polyurethane instead of seeking out blue rubber bushings. In fact, I didn't even know they were supposed to be blue due to aging and wear! I'm just curious... and I appreciate the level of detail in your work.

Was able to finish the restoration on a spare air intake I had purchased from a TGO member.





The paint turned out great. I'm really pleased with the end result.





I had painted the lid a few months ago, and it's been sitting in the spare part pile. I still cannot believe the results one can get with a rattle can of paint! Now I need to find a sign shop to print my replacement decal I made.



Engine bay is getting even better!

Also, in regard to the sticker, contact these guys: http://www.stickercutting.com/ I used to own a forum not unlike this one and I ordered from them, for it, at least a dozen times with absolutely wonderful results. They are super easy to work with.

Looks just like the moog parts but without the small moog lettering on the blue bushings.
I talked to a tech at moog about the blue bushings and I was told that the blue isn't poly. Its a midway between the black (rubber) and their white (poly). I like the blue, have run them on my cars for yrs now without the cracking and compressing poly does.
