Verify if my Vehicle is Actually a Daytona 500

I am in possession of a 1983 Pontiac Firebird Trans am "Daytona 500" Supposedly, It does have the badges and decals, and the seats but something about it tells me someone was trying to restore it into a daytona 500. Is there a way to verify the Vin and prove it was a daytona with complete documentation?. If you would like to see Images of the vehicle you can see it here on Instagram

call the dealer, run the vin, or google Daytona 500 and verify the vin through the net

Pontiac prior to 1987 contact Pontiac Historic Services - they will provide you with a full invoice which will document if it is/isn't a Daytona 500 edition.
