Hey guys I have a 91 GTA, it's dark green metallic, Canadian car, t-tops, original T5 with a 5L TPI, daytime running lights, bone stock down to the factory radio. Appearently it's one of 8 that were made identical to my car. I can't find even a picture of my car on Google, there are t-top green gta's but they're automatic so does anyone know of another one or can you confirm my production numbers?? The car's my daily driver but it certainly needs attention so I'm wondering if it's worth it to dump the cash in to it because of the rarity or if I've been mislead and I'm better off just buying a tight one.

When you say "dump cash" are you talking about $100 or $20,000?

Re: Trying to find another car with my combo??
Isn't there a multi-page thread about this basic topic right on the first page? And sticky threads?

TLDR version - It's never "worth it" in a financial sense. If you have to ask, your heart probably isn't in it. To be "worth it" you've gotta be ok with putting money into the project you're never going to get back out of it.

The rarity of the numbers doesn't always equal value. If only 8 cars had the 5 speed and the rest were automatics, that would have value. If your 1 of 8 is green cars with the T5, but there were hundreds of T5s that year, then the color doesn't do anything for value. When looking at rarity equalling value, it's usually tied to specialty engine/trans combos in a certain car, like the old 426 Hemi, or a convertible Hemi that's 1 of 16 because of those options alone. Color doesn't add value any more than a specific radio or different size tires.

There are 164 5 Speed 91 GTA's, under 500 Canadian gta's total so the numbers in Canadian 5 speeds alone are very low. I've dreamt of owning one for years and this one probably needs $4-5g's to be gorgeous again. It's something I'd be owning purely out of love, not resale value - as for the post answering my question, I'm brand new on the forum so I haven't really familliarized myself with the page

Maybe post some pics of your car and we can give you a more informed opinion.

Green isn't the top color for car desirability, in general but I am sure you, like me, like that particular combination.

If you know it's done and ready for a road trip to anywhere with a 6500CAD investment, that's not bad. The thing about used cars that "only need this" is they will need more with miles put on them.

Good luck with deciding.

And kudos for rocking the trailer hitch! Welcome to TGO btw. Nice GTA, I personally like the green. I'd just buff it and a good detail and drive the wheels off of it.

Re: Trying to find another car with my combo??
This car is literally exactly the combination I've always wanted and 5spd 91's are next to impossible to find within a reasonable distance so I think I'll give it the love it needs, I don't care about getting money back as I'll never be selling it. I also get all kinds of attention from the hitch haha, I've towed motorcycles with it in the past and it actually performed great!
