What Year Did GM Switch From The AP Designation To The FP Designation On Third Gen Camaro's In The VIN.

I think that AP after the 1G1 was only used in 1981. From 1982 the Camaros used the FP after the 1G1.

I took a look at the Vin# of my 1981, 1983, and 1984 I used to own and they all had the 1G1AP instead of 1G1FP. So I'll make a correction that 1G1 AP was used from 1981 to 1984. The 1G1FP seems to have been used from 1985 since that's what my 1985 has.

In 84 the fifth digit is for the restraint system. 85 it's for the car line - ie F-body
