Hey BURD, some batteries are being produced with the Green Eye again. But the location of the current eye is not the same as it was in the past.

If Johnson Controls, which accounts for about 2/3 of battery production in the US, was to relocate the eye back to Delco's classic location, could the "eye" in your topper be punched to reveal the real eye of a new battery?

 

It would be a little lower. We have to put the 2 pc eye in ourselves. It is possible.

A bud saw this Freedom Radio at a flea mkt. had to have. It’s AM only.

 

That radio is funny. Who'd think that something like that would have a market? Was there a Delco Freedom fan club?

Of maybe was this a promotional item sent by Delco to garages?

I'm old enough to have owned AM-only radios. My clock radio that woke me in the mornings during grade school and high school was a Philco-Ford AM-only radio.

 

I've got a different version that is AM/FM

Hi BURD, sorry I missed your question, and honestly I don't know what year it's for. I picked it up in a bulk lot purchase of antique vacuum tube radios and kept it because it's a GM battery and it actually works about as well as any other tiny transistor radio does

 

Picked this up from EBay. It needs a warning decal, I’ll put one on. Lol

now I only see these 2, reach out to the maker, he could change the numbers easily if he does them
how are you sure yours is that number? I get so much bad info on the battery applications you wouldn’t belive it. People go by what a guy told someone is correct. Lol

 

Look at your pic, there’s a decal on the decal. Something looks fishy.

 

That photo is from my 125 mile 1992 Z28. It’s just as it came from the factory……including the signatures on it.

Read what the decal says “remove and attach to warranty claim”.

 

You can buy the set on eBay, and make a small overlay decal. I’ve never seen it, or has anyone asked for it.
why don’t you do this decal set for the community. I don’t get any requests for later decals. You be the go to guy on these.

A few years ago I was working on the art for a late 601 Delco. Basically creating the label from scratch in Photoshop, going from bad photo references and stock photos, etc. I got it pretty close to how I thought it should look, obviously it is missing a few details since I didn't have a good picture of an actual early 90's 601 to work from. But then in the usual way of things, all the working Photoshop files got damaged in a hard drive crash. All that's left now are low quality JPGs I shared with a couple friends.

Example of one of my drafts, that only exists as a bad JPG now, next to your battery.


If you could take a photo of your battery directly from the top down to limit distortion, or better yet, get it on a scanner without dumping acid everywhere, it'd be easy to touch up a high quality photo or scan and turn it into a repro label. In fact, if you posted a good square image here, you'd probably find decals based on your image on Ebay a few weeks later. FWIW.

 

The guy we use chargers $150 to digitize / artwork. It’s not cheap to do one, then print ias many fit on a sheet, then cut them. It all costs money

 

No worries, I no longer want one. A new AC Delco battery is fine for my use.
