Larry Morans Conversion?
Hey there...got a guy I know that has an 85 done by Larry Moran...anyone know more about these conversions in general...and were they "accepted" by GM kinda like the ASC cars. Whats there worth compared to an ASC conversion if 2 cars were standing together and identical in every sense. I'm assuming these were less known about...but DOES NOT make them more valuable at all?
Re: Larry Morans Conversion?
The only convertibles recognized by GM are the ASC conversions from 1987 on that carried the 3 in the VIN. All others are just aftermarket conversions, not recognized by the manufacturer. They only have value to the buyer as replacement parts may be non existent, and the car is originally known as a coupe.
If there was ever a Kenwood Conversion that took factory built cars and changed out the stereo and speakers with Kenwood audio, it wouldn't change the value of the original car any when considering resale.

Hey Drew, yeah...the whole car seems kinda weird, it an 85 IROC-Z...with 50K...its in amazing shape, interior wise etc...but has a 145 speedo in it...which raises and eye brow. But apparently this guy...and or his company still do conversions for newer cars. I read somewhere there doing some for the hellcats etc...so idk. The guy selling it on fb claims he is not good with computers etc...and seems kind of vague on certain questions about the cars originality. Either way it just struck my curiosity was all originally...the speedo thing I cannot figure out. Maybe the conversion was done in 86 and someone thought a speedo of only 85 was lame and replaced it, idk.
