I honestly hope I am in the right place. I have a Recaro 82 TA T-top. It's pretty much a shell. No motor, no original rims, some interior but no seats or dash pad and the console is not in great condition... just say it doesn't have an interior. Its got some rust and the body is 99% straight. It's possible it has the original transmission but probable that it doesnt. It's just a shell. I'm thinking about selling it but I have no idea where to start out with a price.

Well, it isn't going to lower value then if one more piece of interior is missing.....

What do the plastic door sills look like? I would buy them if they aren't cracked or screw holes blown out.

They are cracked. But great try! There's a guy in Georgia that's probably got every part you need but you have to be specific that you need as close to mint as possible or he'll try to send you some BS. I bought a decent console from him for 50$, but I lost it!!! How do you lose a car console?!?!

Maybe $500 to someone that wants to build that car. Might be worth a bit to a KITT cloner. They'd probably want to throw away 50% of the car anyway.

Re: 82 TA *What's it worth*
Here's what's going to hold the car back... Generally, it's in poor condition. All the originality is long gone, which kills the collector market. There's nothing there to restore to original.

Then you said the dirty 4 letter R word. R*** of any kind will run off buyers faster than asking them if they've found Jesus.

After that, you're pretty much down to being a project car that needs a lot of parts and work. Now assuming it were complete, and driveable in it's current condition, it wouldn't be a $5k car. To bring a r***y roller back to a $5k car is going to cost more than $5k.

That's where the Knight Rider allure kicks in. Knight Rider cloners are a breed apart. They're all about spending the fat stacks to build a black 82 Trans Am with T-tops and a blinky light in the front bumper. One of them might pay a premium for the start of their dream.

I CAN NOT stand the blinky light, Idk why. I've never even seen the movie. The motor and rims were gone when I got the car and the seats were beyond repair. The headrests were good so they went on ebay. None of that matters now lol. IF the car had matching #s IF the motor was still in it, I would have kept it original and restored it. If it's not worth more than 500 I'll keep it and park it back in the barn until I can find a cheap parts car.

thanks for the informative reply!!!

Maybe more ??? What crack are you on ?? Looks like you have a new backyard friend at your house lol

Honestly, I wouldn't even pay $500 for that "parts car" and i'm the nut job who scoops up 82-84 trans am's left and right for the KITT knight Rider crowd

So far I have picked up 3 '82 trans am's in my area since December and have $1500 total invested in ALL 3 cars !!!

The cars can get part out or resold for $$$ if ONLY original parts are still on it, Once those parts are damaged and/or missing its game over and just another car

FYI, I picked up this 1982 Trans am crossfire 43K miles for $500 in California running and driving because the rich goof couldn't get it to pass emissions.

I like them better than the fish net Recaro seats. I'm probably the only one in the world that isn't crazy about those. Lol

Let us not forget that GM decided to bring them back (sort of) for the SSR!

Hey yall, sorry to bring this thread back up... not really lol. What if I parted it out??? It's still got some good parts like the hood and the interior door panels and t-tops, as well as the back carpet under the window, ect...

If you dont think you'll have the $$$ to restore it then parting it out is best idea.

Other thing to ask yourself is how much you want to get out of it $$$

Selling on craigslist or ebay if you want to deal with packing and shipping parts to people around the country ???

Re: 82 TA *What's it worth*
It's worth more whole. Most of the parts on a thirdgen won't sell when it's parted out. Just the way it is. I've got piles of parts, leftovers from cars I've parted, parts I've taken off to replace with something else, extra pieces I had to buy to get a piece I needed, you name it. I really don't like to sell parts, because generally the crowd that is interested in thirdgen parts is really, really, really, REALLY! cheap. And Thirdgen parts seem to attract total ignoramouses. It's a tedious waste of time with no real benefit.

Figure $20 here, $50 there, $100 a couple times, or a few hundred all in one shot...

I agree with Drew, if you part it out you are probably going to be stuck with a lot of left over big parts. Easier to be done with it and move on.

*She lol. I am going to TRY to get 800 simply because of the year model. TRY being the keyword. I needed a base price because I don't want to list a 500$ car for 2500 because I think I have more than what I do. Haha
