1991 Formula in Idaho

Hey guys, figured I’d post this up for anyone interested. Looks like a pretty clean car that hasn’t been overpriced yet. This is not my ad, I just have a search for third and fourth gen f-bodies on KSL and noticed this one.

Damn... I can't find much to fault with this one. The pics might be hiding some serious flaws, but it looks good from here. Makes me wish I wasn't married to my project.

Edit: Looks like the paint on the roof might be delaminating... Kinda hard to tell... But STILL!

Re: 1991 Formula in Idaho

Agreed. If I had the money it would be in my garage and the Iroc for sale. Would it be safe to assume that car has dual cars since it has a hardtop and the 140 mph speedo?

Re: 1991 Formula in Idaho

My 88 is stock and it has 140 speedo and single cat but it's an auto, I'm wondering about the red trim bird in between the taillights, that doesn't look right.

That might be. The ad refers to "the only thing wrong with it is the paint"

Yes, the car shows the N10 code per the VIN.

Re: 1991 Formula in Idaho

In 91 the options are pretty locked down. The only real variable is whether it was built when PBR rear brakes were available, or if it had drums substituted. Otherwise it should have the full R6P package, dual cats, 3.42 posi, oil cooler, etc.

Re: 1991 Formula in Idaho

Would this car only have a 110 mph speedo if it had the single cat system, regardless of whether it had tpi or not? What was the criterion for the 140 moh speedo? The R6P/G92 (in camaros) package?

Wish my son was out of school. That would be a great first toy for him.

91 Firebirds all had at least a 120mph cluster. The "performance package" was standard on 350 TPI cars, and LB9/5spd cars too IIRC.

Generally speaking, cars that came without speed rated tires are speed limited to 115mph give or take. You won't have the 140 cluster in a V6 or TBI car. Couldn't speculate off hand on what a LB9/auto could have, because they're a bit of a gray area and I don't pay a bit of attention to them. I mean, they're 305s with autos... Why God, why?

Re: 1991 Formula in Idaho

Same. T-tops are SO 1978. Actually, I just find that the glare through the ttops is uncomfortable, and removing them, storing them, then reinstalling them when you're taking someone else's car, or have to stop someplace and secure the car... It's all just a pain. Actually easier to just put the top down on a convertible.

Anyone wanna buy a stripped roller?*

Love my t-tops. That's almost a must have to me on these cars. Now if I were building a serious hot-rod i would want a hardtop. And I rarely ever take mine o ut.

I love mine. And as it's usually a beautiful day when I take the car out, I pull those tops almost every time I drive. Having owned both, I much prefer to have them.
