The 5 speed is uncommon, it's far more common to have an automatic. T tops are way more common than a hardtop.
That said, it's not really anything terribly special

Re: is my 1991 base firebird a rare bird?
It's about as rare as my 89 base Firebird or my 82 Trans Am. What is rare really? The car world bases it on how many were produced from the factory. I've always disagreed with this. If 40,000 were produced for example, but only 10 remain on the planet, then only 10 people can have one and that makes it rare, since the other 39,990 were crushed. It really doesn't matter how many were made now does it? We pretend though that there's still 40,000 out there, when there's not. When I'm driving my cars on ANY given day, I'm the only one. So really, what is rare? You'll find the right buyer, trust me. I recently turned down $6,000 on my 89. Told them to go find another one and good luck.

Well V8/5-spd/t-top combo is more desirable to general public vs a auto

Rare doesn’t usually mean valuable.

I think you are confusing "rare" with "scarce". Rare would be if they only built 10 cars originally, and 10 still remain. Scarce is if they built 40,000 and only 10 remain. Mine is an example of the latter - 90,000 1986 Camaro V6 cars built, far fewer remain today, and very few in my condition. Very scarce, but still not rare.

Compnine has "sorted" totals and "unsorted" totals. Only the "sorted" totals can tell us combinations of RPOs.
The "unsorted" totals will not be included in the combination totals.
For instance, Compnine indicates that in 1991 there were 47,612 coupes. In reality, Compnine has record of 48,621 coupe VINs. So the combination totals (below) for 1991 will be 1009 cars short (total of all four models).
BLKBird91, for your base Firebird coupe, Compnine has record of 36,778 VINs. However, for combination totals, the "sorted" totals are 35,966, exactly 812 Firebird coupes short. So, understand that the following totals are not exact, but very, very close.
1991 Firebird coupes with RPO L03 engine: 12,247 units
1991 Firebird coupes with RPO L03 engine + RPO M39 5-speed transmission: 1829 units
1991 Firebird coupes with RPO L03 engine + RPO M39 5-speed transmission + RPO CC1 T-Tops: 1069 units
By the way, that engine & transmission combo came only with the RPO GU4 axle ratio (3.08).
Further, check your SPID label for RPO G80 Limited Slip. Only 20 units of 1991 Firebirds with your engine/trans/CC1 with G80.
Hope this helps.
