wonder what the coefficient of drag is with all that jazz sticking out of it

purely for posterity; I'm glad someone took the time and did a decent recreation. Bit yeah, Knight Rider was full on caricature by this stage...

...and some would say those of us with "regular" KITT replicas cut up the car. THAT car is cut up.

Wonder if anyone ever made a KITT after the magic "C" button was pressed?

I guess now i know what i missed by having never seen an episode of Knightrider. I wonder how many miles it has? While not to my taste I think they might be low on the estimate of what it will bring.

Re: 1988 FIREBIRD KITT SUPER PURSUIT

like or loathe, I think its fair to say Knight Rider helped boost sales of the 3rd gen firebird at least in the first few years. Let's face it, it needed a sprinkle of hollywood to misdirect from the hp/ tq of the early cars.

Sure, we've lost a few to hack job conversions as a result, and some early third gen parts have a Knight rider tax on them, I think net though, the communities better off for it

I couldnt agree more with that last statement. I drove to buffalo NY for some 84 TA parts. The guy had a black and gold Recaro TA he was turning into a KITT. I was appalled.

Re: 1988 FIREBIRD KITT SUPER PURSUIT

Knight Rider might have helped early on, but not nearly as much as Smoky & The Bandit helped the 78 T/A. Knight Rider enthusiasts and cloners have been a little 'off' for as long as the internet has been around. It goes beyond 80's pop culture, into a weird 'cult' appreciation. It takes a special kind of fruit cake to do something so bizarre to what is usually a unique car to begin with. Tip your 40 for the poor Firebird that gave it's life to become a fullsize reminder of a corny TV show at it's corniest.

Haha, well said! And I'm not biased either, I watched the show as a kid and thought it was cool.

Re: 1988 FIREBIRD KITT SUPER PURSUIT

El Paso has had many display camaros and trans ams for show over the years. Most of these were confiscated via drug busts.

I am still looking for both 92 B4C 5 speed camaros they had patrolling I10 and US54 on the mid 90s.
