If they look as bad in person as they do in the picture, $50 is too much.

 

Doesn't look like OER/Classic Industries has discontinued the Camaro dash pad. 12511119 is still available from Summit, OER, Classic, etc. Granted it lists at nearly $600 bucks, but looks like Ricks/Ecklers is just not carrying them anymore, closing out a slow selling item, or could be an older version that's been purged.

What's it look like out of the box?

 

It's been a decade since I've seen a stock dash in good shape in person. Not-faded or cracked. So my memory isn't perfect but I am completely satisfied with my dash I bought from them last year. If it wasn't right next to a perfect condition original dash I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Maybe the haircell texture is slightly different like the reproductions of the top rails of the doors but that's it. Fit seems perfect for me.

 

I will be pulling it out of the box later today. I'll post pictures. If anything is off, it will be either offered to another member, with full disclosure of my dislikes or returned

Curious what is the part number on the box? Looks like most places list the OER dash under 12511119, which appears to be the GM part #.

I've got a buddy who was asking me about a dash pad for his Camaro, just sent him the link, just wondering what it looks like out of the box before I tell him to get one.

Historically, the issue with aftermarket dash pads is generally the fit and finish. Suppose it comes down to how picky a person is. I've always been turned off by the prices to order one, but heard plenty of negative reviews of the repro parts. Thankfully I have been carrying a spare Camaro dash pad around for a couple decades, so I don't really need one.

I think Classic/OER offers a Firebird pad, but their website is about as pleasant as a root canal.

 

Wow! Funny they'd so deeply discount something that recent. Assuming the date is approximate for the production.

 

Curve seems off but I'm sure once it is installed that will form correctly.
I'll probably save the new one & use a vintage one for now.

 

Can you tell if it has a heavy steel core like the stocker?

 

yes, I do believe there is a steel backer. In fact on the backside, I can see one little spot with metal showing.

 

As of just now, Ecklers showing "discontinued". Guess they are sold out too.

 

 

 

I bought a OER pad for mine about 4 years ago....I paid around 345 bucks for mine, so 224 is a smoking deal!! Wish I'd got mine at that price. No issues at all with mine and it looks fine. Every bit as strong as the stock dash if not better!
- I do remember that I had to drill the holes for the mounting screws though....no biggie, just take your time, mark it right and don't drill too deep!!
