History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!
Nice 92 rs for sale in Houston texas has the rare rear delco speakers and has leather i dont see many with the zo3 pkg with those options. Dont look bad for 6k.
I wonder why I like the code 45 green so much better on the Firebird than the Camaro?
It's the gold. Coke or Pepsi. ....for me, it's the Camaro which looks better in green. ...but regardless of which you like, I think it's the gold that makes it or breaks it.
I have a picture stored of one like that - beautiful. But I was wondering what that color would look like on a Firebird/TransAm.
Drew, please post some pics if you have any.
My project Firebird is code 45 Dk Metallic Green, but it's a bad example since the paint is weathered and shot. I keep a couple pics of nice examples handy for when I need motivation.
Back in 1993, I saw a car just like this in Minneapolis at a used car dealership, only it had TTops also. I test drove the car and wanted to buy it, but I couldn't afford the $14k price tag. At the time, that used car only had 7k miles on it. I have always loved the Heritage Edition Polo Green RSs.
I can't find any pics of a 3rd gen Firebird/Formula/TransAm in that polo green anywhere.
Surely someone must have painted their car that color by now. I have an 84 TransAm with the GFX package - red with silver.
I would love to see this car with the polo green/gold combo, but I am not able to visualize it. Anyone handy with photoshop?

There are more on Pinterest, but linking to them (if you're not a Pinterest member) appears to be impossible.
I'm a bit torn on the dark green. Sometimes, in the right light with a super shine, it really beams. Other conditions, and when not as well detailed, it tends to look flatter or almost black. Kind of makes me want to hedge my bets and find a color on the books that is a bit more consistent. I'd be a bit bummed to get my project all finished and have it lack luster.
I wonder if a person could do something with a light base coat before the green color coat? Get that sparkle to it when the light hits it...with a little LESS light hitting it?
The teal is substantially lighter and has a touch of blue to it. The dark metallic green is considerably darker. There's also a third color, Dark Green Gray, which is sort of a bluish gray green.
Dark metallic green can be really mean looking.. If it gets dirty it does look black. I detailed a truck for a guy (had scratches on the hood, was filthy) and everyone thought his truck was black.
When I got it all shined up I was surprised how the green really popped.
I also have a friend who restored a 64 Impala SS and decided to go dark metallic green and I have to say the car stands out and looks mean.
Those moments where the car car is clean and the light is bringing out that emerald metallic sparkle is worth it if you’re into green. If it looks black sometimes I don’t think that’s a bad thing either, but I like black.
Wifes cousins GTA is green but in shade I swear it looks black. I went and looked at this car and pondered on buying it myself for 4500. Probably should have.
Idk if the factory tone just needs a little more flake, or a lighter base coat, or maybe a little pearl... Just wish it was a little more consistent in it's luster. In some places it looks great, in others it just disappears. Cross that bridge in 20 years when I get to it.
