Good luck to you! I've completely dismantled two cars and never found them. I did find a pair of gray gloves under the rear carpet in my 82 though back in 2007 with the GM logo on them. Still have those in a bag somewhere!
There was no specific location for the buildsheet and it wasn't necessarily included in the car. It was considered "trash" but some made it into the vehicle and some did not.
Different spots have been reported by those who've found one. Also, there was different buildsheets such as trim sheets, etc., and it's only the master buildsheet that will contain all RPO codes as well as the dealership who ordered the vehicle.
I found my trim sheet under the rear trunk carpet tapped in the well on the passenger side. I plan on making a copy an putting the copy back were i found it.
I've found some on the floor in rear seat well under the carpet. I've seen people say they are under the seats, but not personally seen them.
That’s where I found mine. In the springs under front seat. Wasn’t looking for it, I dropped something and felt some paper. Pulled it out, there is was.
