Re: 88 Irocz 1LE?

Nope, that is your standard, disc/drum, 3.08 gear, M39 trans, 5 speed IROC.

There were only 4 '88 1LEs made, so that would be quite a find.

Forgot the Camaro has no rear drums, and its a 10 bolt, first one have have seen with no a/c, and i know the 1LE has no a/c.
I guess the owner wanted no a/c, and i here people say the a/c robs horse power.
But thanks for the info.

The car is a Z49 (Canada) car. Have seen a lot of ThirdGens without A/C that also went to Canada. Their market, and options, was slightly different from the majority that stayed in the states.

Plenty of Non-AC cars up in Canada. Just like less rear defrost cars in Florida.

A 1LE will have that code on the SPID decal.
J65 is the code for rear disc brakes. J50 is rear drums.

Re: 88 Irocz 1LE?

Sorry, VIN 126962 is not an 88 IROC 1LE. They were all in the 1914##'s.
I have been off the site for a while.
I have 2 of the 4 1988 1LE's, both Auto, one Red one Black.
Both FB's were 5 Speed with GM3 (345 Ratio Axl), 1 of 4 Camaro's were 5 Speed, 3 were Auto GW6(327 Ratio Axl).
All 6 had Fog Lamps (T96), G80 Posi, G92 Perf Ratio AX, J65 Whl Disk Brke, KC4 Cool Sys Oil, K68 105 Amp Gen etc.
The Camaro''s had the FE2 Suspension Sy and the FB's had the WS6 Perf Susp Pkg.
The Black Trans Am came with a UQ7 Sub Woofer and a U75 Pwr Antenna, the white only UM7 AMFM Etr!
My Black 88 1LE is only UL5 Delete Radio of the 6 1LE's.

I have the information on 3 of the 4 '88 1LE Camaros. Unfortunately, when i received the information, I got one car's info twice. Oh well. 75% of the data is better than 0%.

@i1roadrocket

Just saw your post and while the four 1988 1LE cars are cool (I remember Hot Rod or Car Craft talking about how to order this back in the era, which surely prompted the uptick in 1989 sales/orders), I was more intrigued buy your 73/93 Camaro, as I remember the car when built, and seeing some pics elsewhere.

Here's a link, but most pics are gone, or photobucket low res.
http://callawayownersgroup.com/viewt...p?p=8363#p8363

Cool car. Need more stories about it, please.

Do you know what the colors were for the 4 88 1LE's? You have red and black. The other 2?

Mark.

Bill was generous enough to give us information on 3 of the 4 1988 1LEs. Two are black and one is red. I'm not sure if we got any information on the 4th 1LE. We've reached out to Bill a few times on the 4th 1LE but I don't think we've received the information to date. Right, @scottmoyer?

@i1roadrocket would you be able to work with us to complete the records on the 4th 1LE?

I believe the red one is in New Mexico.

That's correct, JT. I only have records on 3 of the 4.

Also, believe there were two black and two red cars.

Is this one of the 4 build sheets you have records on, one of the black ones I believe?

Yes, that's one we have. The car was listed for sale online some years ago with that build sheet provided.

Notice how the build sheet mentions T96 - Fog Lights.

I'm not sure where that goes, but the pictures (which came from you) shows the car to have them.

One of the features of the Camaro 1LE is that the fog lights are deleted for smoother airflow through the intake. All 1989 thru 1992 Camaros will have the fog lights deleted. 1988 was the only 3rd gen year for the 1LE to still have the fog lights present.
