Tire technology, like all other technology, has come a long way in the last 30 years. BFGs will be far better than old-school Gatorbacks.

Re: Gator Back VR50 Tires-Replacement

I just put the 1st non goodyear daily tire on my car since i've owned it (30 yrs) and the sidewalls seem to have a bit more flex and softness to them. Still a nice tire imo.

Re: Gator Back VR50 Tires-Replacement

Good question, as I have the dilemma of my car still having Good Year Gatorbacks on my car. I have talked about buying a second set of rims and taking the originals off and just storing them for show. They appear in good shape and not dry rotted so I haven't puled the Triger yet but I also dont drive my car that much and when i do it not at high speed cornering driving either . The main reason I haven't don it yet is that I just haven't found a tire that has a nice looking tread pattern I like. May sound funny It is an appearance issue with me not so much as a performance as i am not race or beating on my car.

Check out the General GMax RS. Simple sidewall and attractive tread. Plus handles great.

Re: Gator Back VR50 Tires-Replacement

I have the BFGs. Excellent tire. If not those, I'd have gone with General.

Not a whole lot of choices these days in the 245/50-16 size.
