I do not know this for sure, but I have read that starting in 88, the GTA got a really large print of the Y84 on the RPO Sheet. It might have had the large Y84 in 87 too, but I really do not know.

The GTA was listed as a Y84 option code for all years 1987-1992 on the SPID label. The print was no larger than any of the other codes.
Some models of R6A-equipped GTAs do not have the Y84 code, so you have to be aware of what the R6A package consisted of for the GTA model and check for the requisite equipment in order to verify the car as authentic. The R6A package was different for a GTA and a regular Trans Am model.
