History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!
Almost looks like it was just recently undercoated to hide rust. My 17,000 1984 Z-28 showed much better underneith than this car. Makes no sense to purchase such a rare car to not drive and not store properly.
I agree that lack of stripe kit, Iroc Z decals and underneith will hold this car back from seeing big money.
Just looked through those pics and car DEFINITELY had black paint sprayed all over the underside to cover rust. You can still see the rust they failed to cover and rust bubbles coming back through the black paint. Not a bad thing per se because it will at least slow rust progression, but clearly the car has been stored improperly for many years. I have cars that I left outside for YEARS that dont have that much rust underneath. Definitely a cover up job. I would expect better than that for a car with only 57 miles.
Bottom looked suspicious to me as well. I worked at a dealer in the mid 80's and we did not undercoat sold orders unless asked. The lot cars we undercoated and it was sloppy and everywhere. That looks deliberate and recent.
My suspicion is a lot of them aren't legit, and even a car with almost no miles isn't worth the asking $ if it wasn't stored properly.
I wouldn’t disagree with your assessment. I just think it’s difficult to fake a car that shows 100, 200, 300 miles, but it would be much easier for a car that claims to have 10,000, 20,000 miles. When you are talking about cars with almost no mileage, it’s difficult to hide everything.
