California emissions differences??

My 88 Camaro has California emissions, the car is bone stock and I have just replaced the original exhaust this year! I am wondering what is different about California emission cars. Does it take a different type cat or EGR valve, etc?

skits88,
I had a chance to compare my 49 state 89 GTA to a buddy's California 89 GTA. I could not find any differences other than the Prom. GM back then was charging 100.00 for the option.

My guess is the programming on the prom was less agressive for the "california" car.

That may be a prom change but there probably are different part number emission pieces as well, would be nice to find a build book that actually was used to install these options.
