Re: Fender Stamp
My old '87 IROC-Z had a similar stamp. Not sure what it was used for. The 1st three numbers appear different on my car than yours. Mine almost appear to say Z 28 1073

Re: Fender Stamp
I know with my 1st Gen Camaros they were run numbers to identify the plant and week that they were stamped so can only guess that still applies with the 3rd Gens.
When I stripped the doghouse on the Morrison Cook car one thing I was looking for was to see that each of the panel components were stamped however didnt record any of them.

Re: Fender Stamp
All of the chassis parts have part numbers stamped into them, so that's probably what these are.
Mine are Z50 1073 left side and Z50 1072 right side, so 1073 and 1072 obviously designate left and right. The three of us who have replied are all 1987, but whether those numbers are 1987-specific or are representative of all 3rdgens, I don't know.
Z50 doesn't relate to my VIN or any documentation that I'm noticing, so maybe it's a designation for the production run of those parts?
They would also serve as good check numbers. If the prefix for the sides doesn't match, say one side has Z43 and the other side has Z50, then there's probably a good chance that, somewhere in that car's history, there was an incident.
