History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!
last week I picked up the bird and hoping to bring it back to life.
a lady bought it back in 83 and kept it . It was basically stored unused in a garage since 2001. The oil change sticker says 2001 and matches milage so it’s due.
What drivetrain does your car have? There has been several documented Canadian/Export spec '83 DT500 cars
that have surfaced with the open-loop non-ECM controlled LG4 carb 305/TH200C 3-speed automatic.
This drivetrain combo isn't on the normal DT500 order form and wasn't thought to exist until about 15 years ago.
Oh that’s very interesting. My 85 was a strange no computer no smog pump lg4 car.
my 83 daytona500 is crossfire with overdrive
I just pulled the gas tank today. I need to replace the fuel pump. I’m replacing the sending unit just to be safe .
Working in the "big garage" I see.
If the sender is clean and ohms correctly through the sweep, I'd continue to run it. It really stinks when a new replacement part doesn't last as long as the original would have if it was left in place.
My gas guage is pegged past full…..?
not sure why it’s doing that.
i figured a new sending unit would fix issue?
Could be the sender, yeah. But only testing can verify that. With the ignition on, ground out the sender wire to the body and the gauge should read empty. If it doesn't, the sender won't fix your issue.
