I have a buddy with an 86 Trans Am, with the "G" Engine, I realize that ther are only something like 26 of them made that year. I am wondering how desirable is this engine? Would it be worth it picking it up when he goes to sell?

I dont know if a problem with a engine makes it rare.
Those engines were halted due to a fuel boiling problem.

The problem, like you said nosaint, was from vapor lock in the fuel lines. Actually it was easily fixed from installing a electric fuel pump. My 87 LG4 had an electic fuel pump...

Anyone think it might be worth anything in the future?

You think a car that they only made 26 of wont be 'desireable' sometime in the future? Its gonna have to remain stock though, and you will probably have to wait 20 years for it to be worth anything except to a select few.
