I need to know the steps i should take to eliminate rust.I have rust above my front winshield it's bubbling under the paint ,i wanna kill it before it spreads.Pleaseinclude materials and process. Thanks in advance.
Well, since you can't get to the inside of the pillar, products like POR15 won't help you since they can't kill the rust from the inside where it is actually occuring. This isn't just surface rust under the paint, it is actually cancer of the pillar. I had this problem on my windshield pillar, caused by a couple of tiny pinholes where moisture had been trapped under the t-top weatherstrip. The only real solution is to cut and replace the rotten metal, and weld in the pinholes. You can use products like POR15 on the inside while you have it cut open.
Well heres my opinion. I would sand blast it. If its at asection you can see and get to then sand blast will get rid of the rust. If it is in a section like blue was mentioning, then I have to agree. Cut and weld.
