i just bought a 86 ta the guy think is the origanal 305 tpi i know its pre 87 cuz the valve covers bolt to the side not in the middle.. anyway im trying to find the engine code and i can find it any help please...my book says its uder the right head just behind the timing cover bit i cant find the thing also how do you guys have that thing at the end of all you sayings..like you motto and stuff

 

If it has not been machined off here's where it will be. Looking from the front of the car on the passenger side you see alittle triangle piece sticking off the block below the front of the pass. head. Look strait down behind the altinator it will be slanting off in both directions. The side that is slopeing to th driver side is where the casting #'s will be.

 

if i find the code where can i look up the code

 

It will match the last 6 of the vin I believe. Atleast those where as many as I could match to my vin.
