I've posted this in the Body/Interior Section, but, I figured this would be a heck of alot better a place to put it. I need to know what kind of history my car has had. I would like to use Carfax, but unfortunetly do not own a Credit Card. Whats really frusterating is that I'm restoring EVERYTHING, but I seem to be running into some problems, such as rust and so forth, but what also makes me suspicious, is that my car should have an LG4 because the 8th digit is an H, but it does not, also, the windshield was brand new when I bought the car, and I have since found fragments of the previous Windshield in my dash after disassembling it. Also, most of the metal parts look a bit rusty and the dash pad and dash look brand new. I'm thinking its possible this car had a Salvage or Rebuildable title, but because I'm unable to access Carfax or any other 'Pay-to-get-data-you-should-be-free-to-attain' service, I can't find out. Carfax says I have 3 Serious/Important Historical Events, another service says I have 6 Hostorical Events for my car. If there is anyone here that can lend me a hand before I dump any more money into this car it would be much appreciated. My VIN is: 1G1AP87H1EN122105

P.S. -- If this is an inapporpriate post, or is somthing that is likely to start or cause a problem, I apologize. But as of the current time, I have no other choice or resource but to resort to flat out asking.

Oh its no problem, glad to help. Me and my brother signed up for 2 months unlimited on carfax, so its no big deal. The only thing that sucks is I cant check the history on my 68 bird, cuz the vin isnt long enough. I do know one thing tho, my dad, which gave it to me, bought it from the original owner, so I know its never been wrecked or anything. I was just curious about where it came from.

 

Interesting though how the car went from NY to Florida.

 

The distance isn't too unusual... My Iroc and my sport Coupe started out in texas and ended up in SD, the formula I haven't been able to trace, the gray V6 started in virginia and ended up here 12 owners later.

 

my recent acquistion an 89 IROC went from Va. to Maryland and ended up in TN.thing is once 10 yr old,odometer readings are not required,so either the first owner had for 10 yrs and sold it with just 30K or they failed to mention the 1 in front(130K)now on the 68 bird,could a check be run on my 69 camaro??i've had it since '88 VIN124379N569294????
