look!!! please!
Hey; I was looking aroudn today and I saw a car in the Pawn shop yard. Many natives around hear pawn off their cars to go play bingo. Well it was a 1984 TransAm with a 305 tbi. Atleast i think its a tbi cause its carbed right? Right now i have a v6 bird. I am really looking to fix up a v8 fbody. Well by looking at the car it needs paint; most of it is peeled off. The Car has 140,000KM so about 70-80,000Miles. Their is no Visable rust i can see. It needs a spoiler; I can get the paint job for 1,000 - 1,500 Canadian; Cause my dads friend owns a body shop; they do good work.
So i was woundering if this would be good to pick up and fix i could probally get it for 500-1000 Canadian Coin. The hood looks like it has a cowl but its half of one. So would it be worth it? 1000 bux candian = around 600 us; i might get it for 500 canadian. Its got tan interior. and its 5 speed manual! So if i fixed up this car real nice how much would it be worth?
Thanks allot - i hate v6's!
EDIT - The interior looks good; its tan. And it also has t-tops. I really like t-tops. The Rims look cool; they look liek they are aluminuim and have the Bird in the midle. Its missing 1 piece of gfx behind the back wheel; i think.

Alright
I went back and looked; Its not an aniversary; but it had a 5 speed manual Transmition. Are they rare? Would it be worth it to fix it up? its a 1984 Trans Am. With T-Tops.
I Checked the reader rides and i could not find a 1984 TransAm with a 305 with a 5 speed. So i'm guessing they are ard to come by?

Good news/Bad news...
The good news...
An 84 Trans Am isn't extremely rare but they're rather unique cars. They're relatively straight forward, nothing too out of the ordinary. If it has the full Aero GFX kit its more rare and the GFX were unique to 84 only. The carbed 305 is a piece of cake to modify, just treat it like any other carbed sbc and it'll respond.
Bad news... There aren't that many early thirdgens still running around, the ones that are left are either like new well cared for cars, or beat to hell crapwagons. Correct parts are hard to find, and restoration parts aren't available. Also if it has the full GFX and any part of it is damaged, you're in for a fun time finding a replacement piece.
If it were an L69 instead of the LG4 I'd say pick it up, with the LG4 though its a little lackluster. For a car that old, and the condition you describe it would be an indepth restoration... ie $$$.

Does the car run? I mean, for 1k canadian, its not that bad of a deal. A rust free F-body is the perfect grounds for a resto. LG4 or L69, theyre both pretty crappy engines to begin with, so I wouldnt even worry about keeping the stock engine in there. If the body is straight, or atleast enough to easily repair, I would surley go for it!
Yeah
My dad said if he can suck the guy in for 500 bux we will get it cause it needs new tires cuz they are bald as an eagle.
My dad really wants to get this car as a project car; He wants to do it liek father and son; you know. He wants to fix up the engine thats in it i guess. Well i guess we will fidn out on monday!
thanks cya
O yeah; they gfx's that are missing are both sides behind the back wheel.
Thanks;
Mike
EDIT - - -
I have no idea if it runs; we poped the hood cause the door is onlocked and checked the oil - it was fine. The valve covers are crome lol. Indians owned it; There was a Dream Catcher on the floor with feathers lol. I opened up the the Console glove box and there were 6 .30 6 bullets in it LOL. The seats were covered with COW seat covers LOL! i looked underneith them and they were not ripped - Question - Were they drunk on listerine or lysol when they did this? All the speakers are torn out and there were allot of amps hooked up; all the wires are there for the amps. The interior is a pig sty but it looks all good; just junk all over like an electric razor lol. I will find out on moday if it runs hopefully.
Thanks,mike. EDIT---

yeah
There is no racing strip in my town but there is one in a city that is 1 1/2 hours away from me. my city isnt big; only 36 000 people. I am noty worried about having the faStest car in town cause my friend camaro with a 305 tbi beats almost anything he races and its an auto. The Strip in Saskatoon seems pretty cool - It is sponcered by the Saskatoon Police Dept, to get people to stop street racing and come to the trrack. The Track is called SLR; Street Legal Racing; they have a supped up cop car; runs the 1/4 in 12.9 secs. They say they give you a handycap headstart then they put on the lights and race or 'chase you" omfg that sound like SOOOOOO much fun!
