Re: Delco Radios with Aux jacks for sale
Thanks John for getting my UX1 radio back in action for my 88 IROC. AND for hooking me up with an original antenna lead. Saved me a lot of hassle.
The radio sounds and looks great. In fact, it has now shown me that my back speakers need to be improved!
And if you ever make a decision on the 92 radio.. you just let me know.

THANX Erik,... Glad to help get your UX1 pushing some fresh METAL through that fine IROC convertible of yours !! ( and thanks for your patience on the 90-92 stuff ! )
Ramblingarage : Mitch, I did send Ya' reply when I got your PM, but didn't ever hear back from you. ( Check your PM's )
Tyler and Chad,...... I know you guys are waiting on me right now and I will be getting back to both of you with an update soon.
I wanted to throw this out there in case there are any Pontiac guys that want something a little different than the basic AUX on a cord: Last weekend I finally re-installed a stereo system in my GTA. Didn't want to cut into the faceplate of the head unit and wanted the AUX jack located in a permanent spot somewhere so I made this up: ( Might have been better to mount the button horizontal rather than vertical like I did,.... might have been able to 'center' it a little better on the bezel )
I made a couple extra "option button" AUX jacks in case anyone else was interested in this type of installation over the basic AUX on a cord modification.

Great work & ideas.
FYI = in 1981, in an Olds Cutlass & likewise other GM vehicles, U could order a cassette player or an 8-track (the last year available).

Re: Delco Radios with Aux jacks for sale
Just got my radio back. Wow!
John basically rebuilt my entire radio and added an AUX. He was great doing business with and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Kept me up to date with progress, pictures, and video.
This thing is like brand new.
Thank again John

Re: Delco Radios with Aux jacks for sale
Hey, John. Is there a version of the radio pictured below (or similar) that has white backlighting instead of red? This is the radio you did for me a couple years ago. Now I'm working on some Speedhut gauges with white back lighting and would like a radio to match.

Re: Delco Radios with Aux jacks for sale
Sorry so slow; took myself a vacation and was online VERY little while I was away !
I do not believe there is,.... The color of the backlighting is part of the faceplate itself and I can't think of a single GM radio with a grey faceplate and white backlighting. Fairly certain that only black faced faceplates would have white backlighting when fully assembled.

Hi Chris,...... The Last PM I got from you was in the beginning of Feb as I was preparing for a vacation. ( you needed some hardware and wanted to wait till warmer weather before sending the radio. ) When I got back to my place in the middle of Feb I didn't get back online for a little over a week after that and figured you already sorted out your hardware needs by then. As always,....... my address is the same and you can send your radio along at any time. Just be sure to write me a quick PM that includes your new return address info so I'm sure to have. it.
Hi EksCelle ( Don't know your name !?) The UQ7 sound system is really more of a specification of the speaker system than the radio itself. That 'performance sound' option could have used at least 3 ( maybe more ) different radios from the factory. I'll send you a PM in a little while to try and get some more info from you,...........

** A QUICK FYI TO ALL !!! **
For most of my 20+ year history as a TGO member I was self-employed and was able to dedicate several hours EVERY day to the internet / Thirdgen related activities. For the last year ( or so ) I returned punching a clock Monday thru Friday. I've put in 50+ hours a week - every week - since last summer and I no longer check the internet daily for incoming parts / information requests. Now; I reserve a few hours at least 2 nights a week and most of 1 weekend day performing Thirdgen tasks for others ( rebuilding parts, modifying radios, troubleshooting for members, packing parts & getting shipping quotes, writing PM's, etc... ) I still try to respond to everyone as quick as possible - and usually do - but it will take a bit longer to hear back from me than it has in the past. February was an unusual exception; I remained away from the internet for almost a month and some people that wrote me E-Mail and PM's during that time didn't get the prompt response they were expecting. ( 342 E-Mails & Pms were waiting for me when I logged back into the WWW ! ) I'd like to apologize to those folks; while I was sure to 'clean my plate' of all active transactions I had with TGO members before leaving the internet for awhile, I wasn't able to catch-up with all the correspondence that was sent to me while I was away.

Re: Delco Radios with Aux jacks for sale
Just a quick FYI: After taking some time away from the internet for awhile ( late 2021 and early 2022 ) I've been back at the keyboard steady for the last 3-4 months & I am still working my radio hobby.
Still have many/most 80's - 90's GM Delco head units available,........Chevy , Pontiac, Buick, Olds, or even Cadillac. There are restored factory, rebuilt factory, AUX Modified (some on face - some on cable), and with any luck will be installing Bluetooth in the very near future. ( I think I finally found a Bluetooth Receiver that will fit & with no switch needed. ) This picture is old,.. but you get the idea:
Ship thru USPS Priority Mail @ $22 thru the US or $57 to Canada. Some radios are larger than others - and some are more valuable than others - so always include your ZIP / Postal codes so I can check for best prices. Will only use other package carriers at specific request, but that might add a day to shipping time.
Sorry to those members that didn't hear from me thru the 2022 driving season,....... Needed to focus on me and mine for awhile !

Re: Delco Radios with Aux jacks for sale
I had my 1990 IROC convertible stock factory radio fixed by John. He was nothing but professional. Not only did he fix the radio but he added a Bluetooth system. Very excited to listen to it. He detailed the radio as well. I can’t recommend John enough. He also had some other parts that I was able to grab from him as well. 👍🏽

Re: Delco Radios with Aux jacks for sale
John,
Not sure if you prefer a reply here or PM, but I'm looking for a Delco radio with an Aux port, with a specific silver face. It's for a 1991 Caprice, that I'd like to maintain an original looking head unit.
It currently has a Bose Silver Series Unit with CD player. I am not maintaining the factory Bose amp, so Im open to any units you have (speaker level or pre-amp outputs) as long as they have a silver face and Aux input.
The original head unit must have failed, because it powers on, but when tested, does not output and voltage on the pre-amp outputs. Im open to repair of this one, if an Aux input can be added.
Thoughs?
Thanks!

Re: Delco Radios with Aux jacks for sale
When my 89 IROC Z Vert project come up to the top of my "to do" list, I'll be interested in a Delco, AM/FM/CD w/ aux jack. My SPID is missing and I don't know what stereo it came with. I think it has 4 speakers. (It's sitting at my brother place).
It has an aftermarket junk head now.

Re: Delco Radios with Aux jacks for sale
Hi Vr6jh,
The closet thing I've got to what your looking for is this: from a 91 Lumina. I also checked my spare faceplates and found a BOSE silver faceplate,... but it looks just like this radio.
I'm guessing that you need this one:
In this case the only way I could help is to work with your original head unit so that you've got the original look that you're going for. Feel free to send me a private message ( if you can ) and we can try to work sumthin' out.
P.S. Because your a new member you might not be able to send PM messages here on TGO till you post more. I think the post count has to be at 5 or 10 before you can do certain things on this site.

This my stock unit, 1991 Camaro RS Convertible 45,500 miles.. Are you still installing Bluetooth or Aux outputs.
The radio works fine, although the cassette won't stay in when pushed in.
Thanks

Re: Delco Radios with Aux jacks for sale
Yup,...... I'm still turning out Rebuilt / Restored radios Paul.
I can modify it with a corded AUX or Bluetooth and can repair just about anything else found to be an issue. However; I don't really do any "repair" work on the cassette mechs. I can try to install good belts to see if the old belts are the problem. I also install good pinch rollers from time-to-time, but that's the extent of the work I do to the cassette mechanisms.
My biggest 'pet-peeve' when doing repair work is to STRESS how important it is that you pack your radio real well before shipping it here. If it can move in the box AT ALL once packed ---> It's not packed good enough. Lots of good protection (NO AIR BAGS - They pop !) and double boxxed is best.
Just send me a PM for more info.

Re: Delco Radios with Aux jacks for sale
Thanks for the radio, John!
I purchased a UX1 radio from John as a replacement for the one in my 86 IROC-Z. Everything is fully functional and honestly looks brand new. He also added in Bluetooth for me. He provided me with a video of the radio before shipping it out, showing it in working condition and how to use the Bluetooth functionality. The radio shipped to me very quickly and arrived very well packaged. I got it installed today and it works great, it's worth every penny. For anyone looking to buy a radio like this, I'd definitely send him a message!

FYI: I was just too busy over the last month to start any new transactions,...... I was out-of-state for a week, lost my home well-pump, ( carrying all the water for drinking/washing/flushing ) and my house flooded TWICE in the last couple weeks. Please excuse my slow responses;I just had some pretty serious "priorities" to deal with !

Re: Delco Radios with Aux jacks for sale
** It's expected that there will be some 'bleed thru' of sound from the radio (FM/Tape) on the AUX/bluetooth setting when the AUX/Bluetooth is active and there the AUX / Bluetooth volume is set all the way down.
ZZ42; I've done a bit of research on this and it seems that some Bluetooth modules are affected by sharing Power and Ground with the radio. (Feedback loop ) While I really haven't noticed it to be an issue in the past I am left wondering if this is what you are experiencing. I do not know how to overcome this without leaving the Power and Ground disconnected and asking the radio owner to wire it from a seperate power source. (Leaving it disconnected = a non-functional Bluetooth module).
In just about all Bluetooth modifications I've done the Bluetooth Module power (RED) and ground (BLACK) wires are soldered to the radios plug-port circuit board. These are VERY fine wires and I even began to cover them with heat shrink for a bit of added protection. If you are so inclined,.. this Power and ground could be snipped from teh circuit board,... some wire & plug added, then spliced into a different power source. ( NOT the Courtesy or Radio fuse ! )
This is about the only thing I can come up with,... you might be experiencing a 'feedback loop'.
P.S. In the past I've wired the module power to the radio's switched power source. (Yellow wire from fuse) I did this so that the power to the module wasn't 'full time' from the courtesy fuse. I believe I am going to start wiring the Bluetooth modules to the switched power OUT from the radio (PINK) I'll try it on the next radio I modify.

Re: Delco Radios with Aux jacks for sale
Hello JOHN, or anyone!
The OE Ford 6 Disc CD changer in my 2003 Lincoln Town Car, is INOP. It has 12Volts going in but when you press the "Eject" button on the changer, the Cartridge does not come out. Also, it does not Play, when I press the button, on the OE Ford Head Unit, to select one of the 6 Discs. nothing happens.
The 6 Disc Ford changer has Alpine printed on it's label. It has a Ford "Engineering Number 3W1T-18C849-BC " .
I telephoned Alpine in Los Angeles and they no longer work of these units.
I want some who can go through the changer and fix it, and do some indicated maintenance. Thanks.

Re: Delco Radios with Aux jacks for sale
I have almost ZERO knowledge about Ford audio. However, I do have a couple head units that were pulled from previously owned (family) vehicles. IIRC one of the head units was from a 2003 Escape & I think I still have the stereo system from a 99 (or so) Explorer that had a CD changer. I don't know if it's compatible with the head unit in your Lincoln, But it might be. Both set-ups were in working order and saved when the vehicles were junked.
Can you send me a PM with a couple pics ??
