Re: seats, carpet, instrument cluster

Have you checked to see if you have a speedo cable hooked up to the back of the cluster? I've got a 145 mph V8 cluster that is cable driven I could part with

i need the harness and computer for an iroc that was carbed mine was originally tpi 5.7 but is now carbed 5.7 so please help
You don't need a carbed ECM or Carbed ECM harness. The only thing that the ECM controls is SMOG & TCC lock-up if it's an automatic. If your running an aftermarket carb and vac advanced distributor you probably removed the original ECM and opened up the original 89 harness to find the starter, alt, & distrib wires leaving all the ECM wiring unused or cut off. You "should" have also installed a TCC lock-up at that time - there's no other need for an ECM.

What might help you out is an mid eighties ThirdGen engine harness. From 82-87 the engine harness was seperate from the ECM harness and after 87 they were merged into 1 huge harness. A ENGINE harness from an 84-87 would be best for you if your running a carb. (82-83 Engine harness have incompatable wiper motor connections. The wiper wiring might still need to get spliced because the 84-87 wiper is different from the 88-92 style - but it would match better than 82-83 wiring ! ) The 84-87 engein harness has the wiring for the Alt, Distrib, Starter, Wipers & all Gauges - everything you "need".

When it comes to your speedo,... you don't need to swap the transmission & You can't install a 90-92 cluster into an 89. You'll need to install a speedo cable ( if not already in the engine bay, ) and you will have to replaced the electric speed sensor in the tranny tailshaft to the cable type speed sensor. Just be sure that you use the correct cable type sensor and plastic speedo gears when you swap so the speedo remains accurate when the cable is re-connected. The speedo gears in the replacement tranny can't be trusted - VERIFY the gear ratio IN THE REAR END before getting a replacement speed sending unit and speedo gears !

Are you still running an electric fan ???
